New 2011 Scholarship Offer

I never said i wanted Oglesby to be on ISU.

You idiot!

Everybody on this thread needs to chill. If Uthoff could be a Robbie Hummell type player for us that would be great. I think his body (this sounds weird) can definitely add 30 lbs in the next 2 years. 6-8 and 210 is perfect for the position we will ask him to play

If he can be a good three point shooter, then im find with him being on ISU.

all of you guys out there ripping this guy for getting an offer from ISU are horrible. Congrats for him and I hope he accepts. Can't wait to see another Uthoff in a Cyclone uniform.

And all of you saying that he is just a mid major type of player......to be honest most mid major teams could beat us right now and the UNI's and Butler's of the world seem to be doing just fine and would take the state of their program over ours anyday.

Quit ripping on the guy, be happy for him, and encourage him to come to ISU.

I work with Ross' cousin and despite Ross' cousin's past (somewhat loose) connection with McD, I get the impression that Ross will not be a Cyclone. I hope I am wrong because I hear that the kid is good.

I know Ross Travis isn't the topic of this thread but since he came up and I put this out there, I thought I would give more accurate information. I spoke again to his cousin and he said that Ross and his dad are not making a decision until fall and that ISU is still definitely in the running. Soooo, I stand corrected.

Edit: By the way. I think offering a scholarship to a legacy player who appears to have the skills to contribute but needs to bulk up is a good idea. Odds are better that he is committing to the program too, rather than just the coach.

Looks to be about the same size as Hayward from Butler when he was that age, he is now one of the best players in the tournament. Probably the exception, but just cause he is skinny now doesn't mean he can't play. I for one would have loved to have the Hayward kid in an ISU uniform.

Adam was an Honorable mention All-American. Did we have any?

What's you point. You may want to go back and re-read the entire thread and follow the responses etc. No wonder forums get off track when posters can't even follow a simple back and forth discussion between others and find it necessary to add their mis guided 2 cents. Congrats.

Great post! Totally (that's 100%) agree.

Albany's Dir of Basketball Ops is from Cedar Rapids. I saw them play several times when I lived in VT and went to UVM games semi-regularly. They always had several Iowa players on their team. That said, they should be no competition against ISU for recruits even with a coach who's job security is somewhat questionable.

I knew they had an Iowa connection just couldn't remember who it was. They have always recruited the top players in Eastern Iowa hard since he got there.

This kid makes Jordan Dykstra look like Karl Malone. If Dykstra isnt good enough to be a cyclone he certainetly isnt. Oh and another thing Doug Mac is 100 times the player. If mac keeps going after recruits like this, he will need to change his name to todd lick

That was my initial thought as well. I think this kid is a bit of a reach, HOWEVER, not if he can somehow play the 3 position.

If he can be a 6'8" Adam Koch kind of player, I'll take that. But he will have to have really good ball handling skills, and outside shooting ability. Problem with Dykstra was that he HAD to be a 4 or 5 guy because he couldn't handle the ball or shoot from the outside. But he wasn't big enough or physical enough to be a 4 or 5 in the Big 12. Neither is Uthoff either.

Uthoff had better have the skills of a 3 if he wants to play in this league.
