Nebraska sux

All understood and I have no problem with the decision to do all that. It's just the way he handled it was low rent. And yes hockey is huge there.
Not on campuw, where former Aksarben area, an Omaha has always been a hockey town. Rumor that UNO football and wrestling were taking too many walk-ons from NU. Right now, UNO is a better academic school than UNL.

Re: that 2nd paragraph . . .

I think the ideal would be if Nebraska gets a little better but then just stays there at that level forever. Constantly thinking they are on the verge of greatness, never actually attaining it. Going somewhere between 5-7 and 7-5 every year; missing bowl games some years, making minor bowl games other years. Changing coaches every 4 years because that's "not good enough" while paying $$$ to fire coaches. Beating Iowa every 3 years or so to keep the Hawks humble. They might snag a highly rated recruit from the state of Iowa now and then, but not enough to be a threat to our recruiting.

A constant groove of mediocrity - nothing special.

That sounds amazing to me.
More speculation here—but if I was one of these guys, I’d want to make sure that there will be enough left in the budget of the State of Nebraska to keep paying all the ex-coaches as well as me!!

Wow...there's a high bar...

Campbell is not leaving for Nebraska. I think Matt Rhule would be an excellent candidate and I think he'd do it for money alone.

Why would MC go to Nebraska? It’s less about staying at ISU, and more about being available when the ND job opens up again. At this rate that might be really soon.

I think it's more likely Nebraska goes after:

* Urban Meyer
* Chris Peterson
* Highly-regarded OC/DC (Wisconsin guy?)
The first two guys have an advantage over Leonard, Campbell and other popular mentions- they aren't coaching this season.

The Huskers could hire a guy like Peterson and he could start as head coach now and not be involved in day-to-day, but recruit.

Legit Q... how many better jobs are there in the big 10 alone than nebraska TODAY? Not what they used to be or think they are but actually are. Id argue: Michigan, Ohio state, Penn st, usc, UCLA, Wisconsin for sure, and i think you could make an argument at least, today, for Michigan state and Iowa also. Money is a factor but i do not see it for Campbell unless he wants the challenge.

Campbell can go to the NFL anytime he wants to (if he wants to).

He's going to get a call from South Bend, Columbus, Ann Arbor, or State College sooner or later.

ND = well considering how their season is going they might be in the market soon...
OSU = Day could go to the NFL
MI = Harbaugh could still wear out his welcome/could go back to the NFL
PSU = Franklin is a good coach but he's been up and down and never won a championship there

He doesn't need to make a lateral move to Lincoln.

Stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop. This thread needs to die….it might as well be titled the earth is flat at this point. It started as a joke and slowly some folks are convincing themselves it may become a reality. No need to overanalyze in a rabbit hole. Turn the twittagra off for a few days. Lots of internet trolls and click bait articles out there….everything is awesome, Campbell bleeds cardinal and gold (and black)….nothing to see here.
