Nebraska @ ISU

Name 2 guys that would start for ISU on offense as for defense there may be 5-6.

Zac Lee played with a torn ligiment in the elbow of his throwing arm.
Roy Helu was playing with a shoulder injury.
Rex Burkhead had a foot injury.
NU had their 3rd string running back in there.
Many of NU's player's were also sick.

My point... I don't think that ISU playing with backups, sick players, etc... holds any value in making points about the game last year.

2 players from NU's offense that would start for ISU? I can name 2 deep for TE, WR, and RB:

TE Mike McNeill
TE Dreu Young
WR Niles Paul
WR Brandon Kinnie
RB Rex Burkhead
RB Roy Helu

On defense, the whole secondary would start for ISU plus a couple DB's that rotate in regularly so there's your 5-6 on defense right there. Then you have Jared crick and Pierre Allen on the D-Line and a couple young linebackers that would give ISU's starting LB's a run for their money.

Am I biased? Of course! Are ISU fans biased? Of course! Nothing wrong with that, but pretty fun for debating purposes!!! This is just my opinion... Maybe I'm right; maybe I'm wrong, but it's how I see it.

The comment someone made about if you've heard one NU fan then you've heard them all is so untrue. The same could be said for an ISU fan that misrepresents your favorite school and it could be said about any school really. It's not true, though, because every fanbase has it's fans that misrepresent and that represent well. How naive and arrogant that comment sounds!

I'll totally agree that ISU was very much improved last year. I'll also agree that some of the claims and predictions, that I read on this thread, sound ridiculous to me. Lastly, as a couple posters stated... "anything can happen on any given Saturday," so let the debate continue!

A-Rob and Helu are about equal in terms of what they accomplished last year. Both pulled off 5.2 yards per carry, and A-Rob pulled off a few more yards and played a couple less games. Burkhead did 4.3 in his running game when he filled in for Helu.

I don't think Iowa State would gain anything by having Helu start for us, nor would Nebraska gain anything by starting A-Rob, so I think we'd keep the Running Back who had a 514 Passer rating last season (10 yd TD pass vs. Mizzou).

Helu, LOL no, TE's no, Franklin is better than anything NUs got, WR, no, especially not Paul, I dont see him starting for may Big 12 teams.

As for safety's Sims will be a First Teamer this year, so no, and I would take Leonard Johnson over any corner at NU.

Thats a fair statement. But iowa state won the game, so they were still the better team....... Putting all injuries aside and just going by what happened on the field. Turnovers happend on the field. If nebraska was better, they shouldn't have turned the ball over.

I hate it when people say turnovers are gifts. They aren't. Iowa State lost to iowa because they had like 6 turnovers. But, they still lost, and those turnovers were earned no matter how you slice it.

Dude, you have got to cut out on the homerism. Niles Paul is going to be one of the top 6 or 7 receivers taken in the draft next year. We can laugh at him about the sideline fumble, but the guy is good. I love the depth of ISU's receivers, but to say Niles Paul wouldn't start for anyone in the Big 12 is stupid.

nebraska turned the ball over 8 times. iowa state won by 2 points.

do the math.

My math says one for one. Iowa State went for the big play one time in the game and put 6 points on the board. It is not possible to predict how much additional success they would have had if the game situation dictated a more wide open approach.

no doubt, iowa state won the game. congratulations. seriously no animosity here.

turnovers are part of the game and isu played a big part in forcing them. but let me reiterate the point--nebraska gave you guys the ball 8 times. and you managed to score 9 points. and win by 2.

i just find it comical that y'all are spouting off about next years game based on the results of last year. it's silly.

i thought rhoads' post-game speech was pretty awesome and i think he'll do an excellent job as isu hc. i think you guys have a reason to be excited, but some of you need a reality check.

lets face it; the only way we were going to win that game was take time off the clock and punt. we didnt have anybody that could break/make a big play on offense in that game. this year should be much different, i expect a much different gameplan (considering arob/AA are healthy) and a lot more points scored

Exactly--You are not supposed to pull on the other teams arms so that they might fumble?

Ohhhh I'm so enjoying the bookmarking of some of these quotes. They'll be more hilarious after the 40+ point stomping ISU has placed on them this coming season.

Iowa State wins one game and suddenly forgets they're nothing more then Iowa State. Hilarious.

Here's to another AWESOME Insight Bowl though, am i rite guyz? Cause you're ISU, you pwn so much you get to go to awesome bowl's such as the INSIGHT bowl. YEA!

We'll just be on our way to the BCS, with our group of players that wouldn't start for the mighty, mighty Iowa State.

i think your overexageratting our fans quite a bit..go ahead and expect a 40 point stomping but you will be suprised if thats what you expect..you sound exactly like one of my friends except hes an iowa fan..we have a reason to be excited because we had the 2nd best turnaround in D1 football..from 2-10 to 7-6 is not bad am i right?

fair enough, we'll see.

nebraska isn't a preseason top 10 for nothing though. they should have a top 15 defense and an improved offense. i expect nebraska to win, but as a nebraska fan, why wouldn't i? win or lose, i'm sure this thread will be bumped in november.

:)

Yes, it was a nice turnaround. Perhaps you won't be the perenial doormat of the Big 12 you've always been.

You can't really expect any Husker fans that see this to not come in and troll when you're spouting off as if the series record isn't still 85-17 in NU's favor. Beat us on a regular occasion, not some fluke victory that occurs once every 30 years, and maybe people will start taking you seriously.

And RIDICULOUSLY stupid comments such as no one from NU's starting offense would start for Iowa State shows not only delusion, but a total lack of actual football knowledge outside ones own biased opinion.
