Watched the game again last night (MAN I CANT WAIT FOR FOOTBALL). How does everyone see this game going down? I think it will match at team that is worse than expected (NU) and a team that is better than expected (ISU). Watching the game, I could not believe how senior oriented that NU defense was last year, even some of the backups were seniors. To this point in the season I think we win a game we werent suppose to (TTU, TU, Iowa) and this is a huge game in Ames on Saturday night football. I really think ISU wins this game by 3-7 points and ARob runs wild. Biggest advantage for ISU is this game is in November and we know how hard it can be to win at Jack Trice in November with the winds from the NW.

Don't you read the Nebraska press? A defense that loses the best player in the country, loses 3 other starters, and was ranked 3rd in the nation in total defense is going to get better! And an offense that couldn't do anything last year returns all of it's starters! Huskers = National Champions!

I do think Nebraska will be pretty salty this year. If you buy into the revenge thing they will have additional motivation when they play the Cyclones.

I would love to see Nebraska drop a little but I don't think it's going to happen. I don't see their defense getting better but I do think it will still be very good. Their offense looked really good in their bowl game. There's a real possibility that Nebraska could be better this year than they've been in a while.

Nebbie should have murdered us in that game. Look at the turnovers:

1.) Fumble: NU 39 yard line (Helu stripped)
2.) Interception: ISU 2 yard line (Sims INT)
3.) Fumble: ISU 15 yard line (Paul's "magic drop")
4.) Fumble: ISU 4 yard line (Helu stripped)
5.) Fumble: ISU 5 yard line (Robinson stripped)
6.) Fumble: NU 16 yard line (Holt stripped)
7.) Interception: ISU 36 yard line (McConnell INT)
8.) Interception: NU 34 yard line (Smith INT)

They were running through us ALL DAY. Paul was all alone when he dropped the ball and those two fumbles inside the 5 would have been first and goal. If our D wasn't being such ballhawks (lotta credit to them :notworthy:), they likely would have beaten us by 20 or 30 points. Yes, A-Rob was out. Yes, Arnaud was out. They're still going to be tuff as rain when they roll into Ames, and there were a couple of games where we were obviously still not even in the same league as our opponents (Okie Lite, A&M)

I'm saying this because I'm already anticipating people getting ****** if we lose, but it wouldn't shock me in the least to see Nebbie win convincingly. If we can right the ship against KU after the murderer's row stretch, we've got a shot.

I still think it's going to take winning one we "shouldn't" to make 6-6.

You make some good points. However, with Arnaud and Arob, maybe we put up some more points. They probably win, but not by 30

Understand but redshirt freshman QB and RB making first starts in one of the toughest places to play in America and thats our defense under Rhoads, bend but don't break.

Three of our team captains for this season didn't even suit up for the game at nebraska. Let's play them at full strength and really give them something to cry about.

Will Cyclone fans be upset if the record this year is 5-7 or even possibly 4-8? Sometimes you take a step back before you move ahead. The schedule is tough and the team might be just as good as last year and end up with a losing record.

i loved how our G-C-G combo made Suh look very average. If I was a player, I definitely wouldn't be afraid of these guys. Both teams are going to be much improved, and we get them at home.

Im really ready for the huskers to ride into town on their high horse!

How many lineman were on the sidelines sick and wasnt Smith sick too?

Or you can look at this like this, what was your expectations under year 1 with Rhoads? Losing record, .500, bowl game, bowl game win? Do not discount that this is the second year under the same systems. I think ISU and NU could be for for the North.

I bet they come in at 6-2 with losses to Texas and Missouri. I'm not sure I see us winning, but it would be awesome to those Husker fans all sad and depressed two years in a row!!

Rhoads first season sets the bar higher for him than any of the last few ISU coaches. How quickly do fans jump the band wagon if things don't go as well this year? If ISU is in a bowl game again this year it will be a much bigger accomplishment than 09. Keeping things in perspective is important.

I think it depends how we got to 5-7/4-8

This a winnable game that Nebraska should be favored in. They WILL NOT be better than last year, but they were probably the better team a year ago.

As long as we play smart and protect the ball, we can win this game. Our guys know they can beat Nebraska, and if we had AA and A-Rob last year, we probably would have beat them by 3 scores with all those TOs. The Jack will be rocking, and I can only imagine what 2 straight wins over Nebraska would do for the program.

There is absolutely no reason to think we can't win this game. We shouldn't be favored, but like Al said, it's definitely winnable.

We match up best against their ball-control run-first Offensive style, and if the Defense can prevent big plays our Offense should be able to produce enough for the W.

Plus, and most importantly... it's college football, people. Anything can happen, any week, between any two teams.
