Nebraska Fans

Yeah it was fun explaining the entire game of football to a neighboring ISU fan.

Typical husker fan...thinking you invented the game of football. I am going to Iowa City when you guys play there. Just to see the looks on husker fans' faces will be priceless. Whatever you are believing is classless behavior from ISU fans will pale in comparison.

I yelled loudly when Knebraska fumbled the ball. Dude next to me turned around and glared. I asked him what his problem was. He "ordered" me not to yell in his ear again. I told him to go to an effin library, but being a bugeater he probably did not know what one of those is...

He then stuck out his chest and flared his nostrils. He was probably 5' 6" and 65 years old. I am much younger, and much bigger. By the end game he did not like me much...

Maybe because you almost destroyed not only our athletic program, but our research institutions by running scared to the Big 10 and then played the victim card. Have fun going to Iowa and
Wisconsin next year if you think ISU fans are bad.

Just what I was thinking. Do Huskers think they are going to be treated well at Ohio State? Or Illinois? Or Penn State? Or anywhere else for that matter, especially with how arrogant and rude Husker fans are when they travel? Seriously?

Hawkeye Nation is going to be a 3 ring circus wrapped in a firecracker with a short fuse when they visit. One spark and that thing is gonna go off!

I think Husker fans don't realize that they are going to be treated a lot like pirates back in major port cities in the caribbean back in the day. And they will deserve it. Persona non grata indeed!

Besides, it will be, by far, the worst academic institution in that group. Congratulations on that!

With respect to those of you who endured the fools of NU fans, I am sorry.

Most of us really are not like that, and it is unfortunate. With any team there are a few who paint everyone else in a bad light.

I will be rooting for the Clones in future years. In fact, I will be actively seeking out your games on TV when I can get them. The Clones have great things ahead, and I am really looking forward to watching.

Good luck!

i am a husker and i completely agree with you. most are not like this.

Now, I love a good Husker bashing as much as anyone but generally the gameday Husker fans you encounter are good people(especially on the road). I've probably been to 20 ISU/Nebby games and a handful of other Husker games and never had any problem at the games. The other 364 days of the year are another story, I've already been told at work today that the reason the Husker offense struggled yesterday was that they knew this was an easy win and didn't want to show anything new to their remaining opponents(who are KU, A&M and CU).

What will be really great is that Husker fans will not be able to travel just a few hours to road games in the Big 10 conference. Iowa City will be the closest and that will be a couple hours further than Ames. Minneapolis will be about 4 hours further. The Husker fans that have loved making the road trips to follow their team will hate their new conference affiliation.

Oh no, they will love it. It is always great to go from cold weather, to cold weather, to colder weather locations. Should be a bunch of fun times for them. I mean who wants to head south when the weather turns cold. Really, who does that?

The fans I was around were not too bad, we hazes eachother back and forth but in general they were pretty good... They did have a few arrogant comments about how it was more them playing lime crap then us playing good....
I do agree the 'GO BIG RED' chant got really old especially post game it was almost done in a rub it in matter.

The good thing about a game like this is that it lets you know who the fairweather fans/traitors are that sit around you. You can see who decided to sell their tickets to kNU fans.....so you know to never talk to them again at future games.

I know one guy who has donor season tickets next to my brother who does a lot of business in Neebrasky. He doesn't sell his tickets but does find it makes good business sense for him to "have a prior committment" and make his tickets available to one of his Husker customers.

Personally I can't fault him for that. It is just good business. Otherwise, yes, there are entirely too many fuskers in the stadium. I hope the AD got a bunch of mini pack$ sold for many of those.

Everytime Nebraska would come out on the field, the stadium would erupt in booing like I've never heard booing this loud before. I've never understand, this booing your opponent.
...
I'm starting to see a trend with some of these Big 12 North fans. You guys have the most class-less fan bases in college football, yet many of you swear off Nebraska and their fans to be the root of all evil, when in reality Nebraska fans are some of the best in college football. Sometimes, its like..Why would we want to play schools with fans like ISU, Kansas State, Missouri, Colorado? Sure, its been fun, but I would rather play a school that wants to play Nebraska with cool fans, rather than one that is tired of Nebraska whose fans hate us.. The last time we played Colorado, their fans spit on Nebraska players.. If this doesn't make you want to join the Big 10, than I don't know what does. I know many will take all of this in a bad way, but I am only expressing my opinion.

I was about to tell you that there are a lot of ISU fans who don't like the booing either and wish it would stop. I was also going to tell you that I believe that it was exceptionally loud this time because many fans take it personally that kNU's money grab to the big 10 about spelled the demise of the Big 12 which caused a lot of heartache for many programs in the Big 12.

I was about to tell you these things until I read your later paragraph about how Nebraska fans are so great and all other fans in the Big 12 North are the worst in college football. That was when I realized I didn't really need to tell you anything because you were not living in any semblance of reality.

Enjoy all the other classy fans in the Big 10.

Why is every one so upset about people cheering for their team?
You cheer on the Clones at away games dont you? The nebraska fans near me just just seemed shocked at how their team was playing, but at the end they talked about how much they respected CPRs guts. They came in cocky but isnt that to be expected when they are ranked in the top ten. I think they came away with a reality check, and healthy dose of respect for ISU.

I posted my opinion in numerous other threads.....but I just have to say if you were anywhere near section G, you would have a whole new level of hatred (I know, strong word) towards the fuskers. Also, they were like a bunch of rats walking out the west end exit after the game.

To be honest, there were two Husker dudes behind me that were nice, and apologetic (*******) and a hot Nebraska chic that kept checking me out...Dark hair, not Jersey shore converted yet, nice. I found out later she wasn't checking me out, but convinced I was going to beat the **** out of her obnoxious boyfriend.

and

I got her numbah.........

I thought they were very decent to me. Tailgated with some UNL Friends before the game and then afterwards Tailgated with other Huskers who gave us food and drinks. Side Note- Met Tommy Frazier, and he was kind of an *****

A good portion of the Nebraska fan base are good people. Their dip***** are the lowest of the low. I grew up in SW Iowa surrounded by these dregs of society. It's really no suprise that some of them showed up in Ames for the game. HuskerPete is typical of the lower end of their fanbase, showing up on an ISU message board to tell us how things are. Just go away Pete.

As much as I would like to say something bad about the Nebraska fans, what stands out from Saturday is a good story. I saw a Nebraska guy with an endzone ticket come to his seat and find an ISU woman in it. My guess is that she had moved forward to his seat all season since he may have had a season ticket that he only used once. The Nebraska guy even offered to buy her some food for giving him the seat for which he had a ticket. I told him that if he wasn't careful, he would give Nebraska fans a "good name!"

Huskerpete's stories sound made up. However, I was sitting near Huskerpete and he kept spitting on Cyclone fans and when he accidentally soiled himself during the comeback.

On a serious note, the husker fans by me tried to be respectful but were ignorant and inconsiderate. The guy kept stepping on my foot so when he took his shoe off for a kickoff, I asked him if I could see it. He handed it to me, I pretended to throw it out into the crowd, handed it back to him and asked him to stop stepping on my foot. He also kept standing on the seat in front of him, blocking my view and the view of the two kids behind me. I repeatedly asked him to step back and when he didn't, I grabbed his shoulder and guided him to his seat. After any husker penalty, his group complained about refs hating NU. So after every Cyclone penalty I complained about the refs hating ISU. When they looked at me in disbelief I said, "yea, thats how you sound". Best fans in college football though.

I grew up a Husker fan until I was converted and I remember being in Memorial Stadium as a kid with people around me buying hot dogs for visiting team fans in the area. It was a great place to learn class.

After being a Cyclone over the past 10 years or so, I have had both good sportsmanship with Nebby fans and really rude insulting sportsmanship with some fans at NU. It is a different experience going to memorial stadium with a gold shirt on, but not usually bad. I have seen more dbags as the years have gone on which is unfortunate. At the game on Saturday, I heard lots of compliments of our team, nobody being a dbag, and actually had to tell some Cyclone fans to straighten up. There was some drunk Cyclone fan who was rubbing it in some Nebraska fan's face. Everybody around him starting telling him to shut up and quit acting like a Hawkeye fan.

Seeing this thread, Nebraska definitely has some crappy, bitter fans and some of these comments put us into the crappy, bitter fan base too.

That being said, to compare us with Colorado and Missouri fans is just plain insulting. They are the worst.

I always kind of wonder who these people are that have no class. I have a lot of friends that cheer for NU and U of I and all of them are very respectful. And I always felt like our group of Iowa Staters treat opposing teams well too. How does it help anything to act like a *******?

Anyways, you knew this game had the potential for some hard feelings as do all games NU plays this year especially against the former Big 8 teams that have been playing each other for ages. At least from my perspective things were pretty tame, but I won't lie I really hate that GBR chant. How dumb. If I had to vote for the coolest opposing fans in the B12 my vote goes to the Poke fans at OSU, I always thought they were the best.

Same in NW Iowa. While there are a few good Husker fans, for the most part they are the lowest of the low, and deserved to be shunned by polite society. I also wonder what happens to the "good" fans I know when they get mixed in a large group of the traditional Husker fans. I hate to say it but I suspect that they fit right in with the large group and enjoy trying to out DB each other.

As much as one can dislike a fanbase without it being a serious issue that should be dealt with, that is how I feel about Husker football fans. Oh, and Kansas bball fans. Conveniently, I think that there is quite a bit of overlap between both groups.
