ND choke job

For Ohio State:

POINTS PER GAME

76.2 113th OVERALL

REBOUNDS PER GAME

37.1 135th OVERALL

ASSISTS PER GAME

12.8 188th OVERALL

FIELD GOAL PCT

.479 58th OVERALL

Combine that with their only real competition coming against #17 Marquette, a barnburning 52-35 win...not exactly a group of world beaters...

...but, B1G.

Ohio State's #2 ranking in spite of these stats is an example of why I dismiss the web's most popular computer ranking in favor of several other less popular ones.

My reaction while watching the end of that game.

If peeing your pants is cool consider Notre Dame Miles Davis.

They're also number one in the country in defensive efficiency by a fairly wide margin.

That was an epic choke job. They were up 8 points and gave up an easy layup and then immediately turned the ball over in the back court and gave up another layup to cut it to a 4 point game. It was essentially over for them at that point. If they had done anything at all during that stretch, they still would have won.

How long will ND put up with Brey and his job performance. Will Mad Fran be in the picture for the job?

Beyond not getting past the round of 32, he has done a good job there. Surprisingly good (old) Big East winning percentage and in line with big name coaches:

Brey gets a lot out of not much talent. That is a difficult job. The facilities for basketball are not great, and recruiting must be difficult between facilities, academic standards, and football emphasis. The Joyce ACC is not a great venue. They recently gave hockey their own facility and I have been hoping they will upgrade for basketball, either a renovation of Joyce or preferably a new facility. They have moved all of the football trophies out of Joyce into their football facility but they still have a bunch of their other sports memorabilia there. It is a prime location on the campus, right next to ND Stadium, but not sure where they would play during renovations if they went that route. They have had a lot of success with their women's program, but I think that is an easier recruiting job.

BYU chocked against Oregon.

I've seen a lot of teams chock this year. I think that says more about our team than you might think. Our ability to close will make this a special year.

I love people who think they know about officiating sports. Until you yourself get out there.....
