NCAA Tournament Expansion Talk

Can you imagine what the women's tournament early rounds would look like? It is, of course, a cash grab by the NCAA, which in turn gives a lot of the revenue to member institutions.

You would lose money hosting those games. Would have to be home team hosting. Neutral site games would have 200 people there for 4 teams. There are probably 30 teams with ok attendance and only probably 20 of them travel well. However that Missouri state team traveled to Ames really well when they beat us. (Pretty sure we lost to them)

We'd be having .500 teams make the tourney frequently at 90. I just am morally opposed to it.

I'm surprised they wouldn't just do 96 if they're going to do this.

64 + 32 = 96

90 is just kind of awkward in terms of its relation to powers of two.

This is stupid, but will probably pass for the simple reason that it generates more money for everyone involved.

Sadly this.

Unlike football, in which cross conference games are limited by conference schedules, number of games, and the propensity for schools to schedule patsies for wins and free money, college basketball isn't the same. Every team has the chance via tournaments and conference schedules to make the tourney and be properly seeded. No reason to expand outside of money, which is what's driving this whole thing, sadly.

I like college BB but can we figure out how to get 6 months of CFB before we add more to the big dance?

Agree. It’s like the fricken TB Bucs getting into the playoffs this year or 5 win teams going Bowling. Takes a lot of the excitement and energy away if everybody just starts getting included without being good.

the tourney just needs to have a legit bidding war. When do the rights come up again? I bet they could get absolute heaps of cash if they were aggressive about shopping it around
