***NCAA Allocations (Thursday, 2/23)***

Order of confidence for qualifying for NCAAs:
Guaranteed regardless what happens: 149, 165, 184, 197, Hwt

After those 5:
133- pretty confident he would get an At-Large if he didn't have a good tournament
157
141
125
174

We will see how the brackets look next week, but I think 8.5 is a good over/under to bet on
174 seems like a wild card weight to me with some unknowns of how they perform. Ie Broderson, Wolf, Romero, Picklo, Hastings, Berreyesa, Sax. I could see a number of things playing out with this one.

So we helped earn bids at 7 weights and those 7 should make it even if they had to get a wild card. It’s 125, 141, 157. Can’t believe we are having to question if Casey makes it after all the hype coming into the season.

What were Broderson and Kraisser's RPI and Coaches rankings?

Both were real close. Kraisser just out and Broderson just in.
Wt - Wrestler - CR RPI
125 - Fuessley or Cabanban - NR NR
133 - Redding - 18 13
141 - Swiderski - NR NR
149 - Johnson - 10 13
157 - Kraisser - 29 31
165 - Carr - 1 2
174 - Broderson - 27 29
184 - Coleman - 4 3
197 - Bastida - 7 5
285 - Schuyler - 7 5

Usually the break is somewhere around 26-28.
So at 174 and 157, they need to wrestle close to allocation or not get upset by someone way outside and hope there are not a lot of upsets in other conferences.

I think we can get 8 for sure, even if Kraisser doesn't steal one, I think his resume will make it in, assuming there aren't a lot of upsets. Same with Broderson if he doesn't get a bid, i think he gets in on a wildcard

Yeah, I am mildly surprised Kraisser didn’t earn a bid but he didn’t have any great wins.

He’d be a fringe at-large guy if he doesn’t steal a spot.

His RPI and win% were too low. 30 and .700 are the absolute minimum.

Of note, I think this is right. I don't think Nelson Brands earned at allocation at 174. I think, no RPI and not good enough win %age , but 15 in coaches rankings.

The Last Chance Open might of helped Kraisser. Quite a few D1 guys at 157, but would of had to beat them also.

NCAA allocation numbers, along with final CR and RPI, are scheduled to be announced on Thursday, Feb. 23.

All conference championships are being conducted on the weekend of March 3-5.

NCAA At-Large qualifiers will be announced March 7 or 8.

NCAA seeds and brackets will be announced on the evening of March 8.
I am curious how many of the weights in the SoCon and Pac 12 were earned and not just given to the champion? I assume the Pac12 probably earned at the one at almost every weight with ASU, Oregon State and Stanford there. The So Con should break up and go to MAC or Pac 12 or a combination.

Also it sounds like the 149 allocations will get adjusted.
Pac 12 only got 1 allocations, but have
Parco at 5 in CR & 3 in RPI, & 19-4 record
Abas at 11 in CR, 10 in RPI & 16-4 record
Both are gold and will put Pac 12 at 2 allocations at 149, not 1
Also Demas did not get one. 24 in CR, no RPI and 8-6 record

I think 125 will be tough to earn an at large bid. I see Virginia tech and Pitt taking 2 of the 4.. Lujan and DeAugustino I’m the big10 didn’t earn one either and could steal or knock someone into a position they steal. Cabanban needs to wrestle well

DeAugustino might be hurt.

Latona and Phillippi didn’t have requirements for allocation?

Edit: we’re talking 125. Sorry about that.

Also of note, Teske and Foley of MSU didn't get an allocation at 133 for Big 10

Teske - NR in CR, NR in RPI, 6-2 record
Foley - 19 in CR, 30 in RPI, 11-7 record

Interesting that Teske isn't ranked

PAC12 moved up to 2 & ACC down to 3

Tough for Casey, was hoping for more at 141, it’s really tough in the big12

Cabanban can qualify if he has a decent tournament

57 and 74 will need to have decent tournaments but about what I expected for allocations there
