okay, so i heard o'mallys is shut down for good. is this true and if so, wtf?? i love that place-everytime i go back to ames i try and get there.

That's not a rumor - it is a fact. The owner was quoted in today's Ames Tribune. He was tired of the frequent flooding and the mess that always ensued. He owns like five or six other restaurants in town.

Thats another place that I thought was over rated. Tried it once or twice and was never close to impressed.

booooooooooooooo!!!!!! no more fajitas!!!! plus the original owner of the dog wagon was employed there. he even gave me the secret recipe for superdogs!!

I remember helping clean that old Save-U-More (HyVee) grocery store behind O'Malley McGee's before I started my freshman year at ISU.

I hope the flooding subsides soon..I don't wish that clean up on anyone.

Was there last week and it was fine. But haven't been there since the rain....so can't say.

We ate there before a hoops game last season. Decent place - not fantastic food but I thought it was good.

I think a much bigger "nasty rumor" would be someplace like Great Plains closing down.

I love their beef fajitas! 2 for 1's on the first Monday of the month!! Lots of memories in that building...they will be missed if they close down.

So its the city's fault that this guy has gone through at least 3 floods?

Is THAT what he was getting at? I was lost.

Yeah, I heard that the Ames City Council had a resolution before them to outlaw all flooding in the city and they denied it. Those bastards.

DaVinci's closing down was MUCH MORE of sucky news then Omally's closing. Never really liked that place.

Still stinks though.....
