name that song

I'd love to kick Asher Roth in the junk.

I Love College by Asher Roth is a good college party anthem. Other than that, you really can't take him seriously as a musician. Hopefully everybody who likes that song knows he took the guitar melody from Say It Ain't So by Weezer, one of the greatest songs of the 90's or ever.

The more popular version was done by Manfred Mann and the Earth Band. But it was written and orginally recored by Bruce Springstein.

Worst lyrics ever to a song. I've always despised that song. The part that makes me cringe the most is when they sing "Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun."

Um, since when does the sun have eyes? It reminds me of some of the juvenile, 7th-grade "prose" I had to read when I was in a writer's workshop-like class at Iowa State, where we critiqued the creative writing of fellow students. Some of it was pretty good, but it was mostly really awful, awful stuff. One girl actually wrote this sentence when describing someone who was surprised: "His eyes popped out of his head." I wrote in the margin, "did they roll across the floor too?"

"But Mama, that's where the fun is.":eek::eek::eek::eek:
The entire song doesn't make any sense from what I remember. But then neither do lots of song lyrics. Like Shama Lama Ding Dong or Give Peace a Chance.

BOC-burning for you

out on the road for forty days
last night in little rock put me in a haze

Grand Funk Railroad - We're an American Band.

sometimes you wanna get higher
and sometimes you gotta start low
some people think they gonna die someday
i got news ya never got to go

"Petition the Lord with prayer? You can not petition the Lord with prayer"

Nice. You sort of answered your own question didn't you?

The Doors - Petition The Lord With Prayer

"She keeps a lock of hair in her pocket,
She wears a cross around her neck."

You preach synthetic-like
Peace is an oversight
Its nothing to ignite
Your self-lit spotlight

"Yeah the food is cold and your wife feels old
But all hands fold
As the two year old says grace
She says help the starving children to get well
But let my brother's hamster burn in hell"

Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like a leapress above the Serengeti

(one of my all time favorite song lyrics)

This is something I have thought about morphing 'Beat It' into for next year

Toto - "Africa"

That line seems very awkward when sang. It's almost like they came up that line and decided it was just too good to leave out, even if it did fit right. It's like a mother of two squeezing into her old high school jeans.

Heard a good one on the radio today:

because the plot thickens everyday,
and the pieces of my puzzle keep 'a crumbin' away;
but I know,
there's a picture beneath

What??

"Sure as kilimanjaro rises like olympus above the Serengeti"

What the heck is a leapress?
