I'm moving to Dallas for job training and will be there anywhere from 6-12 months. What are some nice areas to move to? I don't know Dallas all that well. Is there a sizable ISU alum population there?

I am president of the ISU Club of DFW. This year we will be having 4 game watch locations this fall, (see 3 of them here) plus I just confirmed tonight that we'll have one at the BWW in Grapevine. We have about 3000 alumni in the area. You can visit our Facebook page here.
If you are looking for an apartment in Dallas, I second cyman05's recommendation if you want to be close to downtown, restaurants, bars, etc. Another good place to look is the Dallas North Tollway area between Belt Line Road and the George Bush Turnpike, lots of apartments there, plus nearby Addison has a lot of places to go out to. Las Colinas has apartments too if you're working out that way. If you know where you're working, I'm sure we can give you a good living location.
Maybe...I know you forgot the.
Maybe...
I'm sure there are some great bargains there.
We lived in Arlington, which we really liked, but it really all depends on where the job is.

This pretty much nails it and I've lived in each of these areas. As long as you're withouth children and still young in age, or behvior, these areas are great. I found these areas are also easy to blend into for transplants such as us.
I wouldn't recommend the Las Colinas area personally, but if you work out that way, it's definitely nice with plenty of shopping, restaurants, and nice living accommadations.
Las Colinas is a very nice area with good access downtown via the John Carpenter expressway. Thanks for the advice everyone. my office is off of the tom landry highway about 2 miles west of downtown. The downtown area seems nice just, I just dont know enough about the area to determine if its worth it to pay a little extra. I had a friend who said las colinas (sp?) was a nice area and have found a couple places there.
My sister-in-law just moved from Carrollton to Kansas City and are still trying to sell their house there. Pretty nice area. They may be up for renting it for 6-12 months if they can't sell it in this market. Let me know if you want more information.
