Who do you recommend for moving? Everything will be packed, we just need it loaded up, hauled, and unloaded. We have two little kids and the requisite amount of crap that comes with them. It's in the metro area. Let me know your opinion for who to use and why.

The only reason I wouldn’t use Two Men & a Truck is if you are law enforcement or if you are a criminal attorney. My wife and I know a public defender that hired Two Men and a Truck to move her family and she had defended two of the three guys that showed up.

My wife heard the CEO at Two Men and a Truck speak a few years ago. He is a strong believer in hiring individuals who have served time and want a second chance. At that time they had been doing it for 5+ years and he indicated that they have been the most productive and issue free part of their workforce. We've used them twice and had a great experience both times.

We used 2 Men and a Truck last time and it was worth every penny. The person above suggesting that you’re lazy if you don’t do it yourself is way off base. Moving is stressful so having that aspect taken care of is a big weight off the shoulders. Plus they put everything in the room you want and take apart and put back together any furniture that needs it. My friends have their own lives, my parents aren’t getting younger, and I can afford to pay them so it was the best money I’ve ever spent.

Smoldt Moving - they are fantastic. We used them to move last spring, came out and did a walk through prior to the move, they take the time to protect the surfaces in your home so they are not damaged, very efficient. They had my house (3 floors + garage) loaded in the truck, went to my fiancees house and pick up her stuff and unloaded us in our new house in 6-hours. This included taking apart furniture and setting it back up. We had a team of 4 guys. It was worth every penny we spent and I would do it again vs. having family/friends help. So much easier. They also use a semi vs. a truck which meant we got everything in one load/vehicle.

I've used 2 Men & a Truck once, but had zero issues. They came in, did their job like professionals, no muss, no fuss. I think it cost $100 for an hour.

Why? I could easily counter with "If you are lazy/don't have friends and family willing to help feel free too waste your money." The thought that you aren't an adult if you DIY move is weird.

I think if you're an adult and have your **** together, asking friends/family to help you move is a bit of a **** request IMO.

No one wants to dedicate their weekend to helping you move. Like the prior posters said, hiring a moving company like 2 men and a truck isn't that expensive.

Are there actually some people (other than you) who think asking friends and family to help you move is not socially acceptable?

I'm not trying to make a stink, I'm genuinely curious.

I guess I grew up mostly around poor to low middle-class people so it seems like a very normal thing to ask for people to volunteer to help you move. I don't like doing it, but I understand it.

(could be a poll!)

I think a lot depends on the scale of your move, age and size of your friend and family pool, and your economic standing.

Also time. We have busy jobs and just w as not it done.

People always helped me move early on but once married and established, packing help is about all that would be acceptable to ask for.

I can't suggest a moving co in iowa, but Two Men and a Truck is not ideal for larger or interstate moves. If t bf ey can't come to my house to do an audit and estimate, then I wouldn't use them.

We hired Elite Moving and couldn't be happier. Four guys showed up with moving truck and trailer, were friendly and careful, worked efficiently. They have as high of a recommendation as I can give.
