Most Clutch ISU Player

Hampton was a 15 seed (not a 7 seed as someone mentioned).

I didn't say that Hampton was a 7 seed. We were making comparisons to Michael Jordan and his multiple game winners in the NBA, where the number 2 seed would play the number 7 seed. I was trying to compare apples to apples, which is difficult because there are only 8 seeds in the NBA playoffs.

Edit: I see someone already beat me to the punch.

There are a lot of good choices, but I'm going to say Barry Stevens. Someone mentioned the Missouri game, but didn't he hit a game winner against Minnesota that year too? I just remember they were down by 6 with 40 seconds left and won. (And this was before the 3 pointer.)

If we are strictly talking about clutch play then Thigpen and Willoughby have to be at the top for me. They were guys I wanted to see with the ball in tough situations. Thigpen against OSU was amazing.
Hornacek and Holloway would be second. Hornacek for his shot vs. Miami in the tournament. Holloway consistantly made shots when teams backed off him to cover Willoughby but more importantly did a great job of protecting the ball and getting it to the open person.
I have to agree with a lot of folks in that Tinsley fell short against Baylor and Hampton. One of the best players in ISU history... yes, but definately not the most clutch.
Stinson has been mentioned but he would fall way down the list for me. The guy could not make free throws at the end of a game. I cringed when he was at the line in a close game.

Not that Kantril Horton had alot game winners, but his back to back 3's against Kansas at Lawrence stick out in my mind. He hit those from 25 feet out at clutch time. Though if I had to choose in order: Dedric, Thigpen, Hornacek. Can't go wrong with any one of those really!

That shot he made where he was standing on the j-hawk was one of the sweetest I've seen. Wonder if he knew he was standing on it when he took the shot. Hope he dug his heels in a little.
