Montgomery and Thomas are gone

I see from this thread that some people are still under the illusion that this program doesn't need a complete overhaul and rebuild and actually believe CPR when he says this years team is a bowl team. Lol. Delusion was strong in the last staff and it trickled down to the fanbase.

I get what you're saying, but last year's team had some pretty decent players coming back for next year besides Lanning, Warren and Lazard that would be worth keeping on. Besides, this is football, you can't kick the whole team out of the program and play with a class full of freshmen like you can in basketball.

I dont think andrew is a big fan of the whole #AStormisBrewing and all the "cool" stuff the new staff is doing.

Andrew is entitled to his opinion and if he thinks thats dumb, thats fine, but this new staff just reeled in the 44th best class in the country. The best ISU has ever had. So while Andrew and Jake may think the tweets and videos are dumb, you can't really deny the results they're producing.

Please stop with this best we ever had crap. It has been pointed out that Mac had some in the 30s and Bruce had the #2 class. You can say in quite awhile but stop this drastic exaggeration.

I guess Thomas won't be poaching all of the TD's from Warren now? Seriously though, this isn't great. I think Thomas was our RB2 and Montgomery was WR3 statistically.

Montgomery was non existent at times this year. I would almost argue that he would have been #4 or #5 this year behind Lazard, Daley, Wesley, Epps and maybe Butler or Johnson.

Thomas is a bigger loss. We need someone to spell Warren. Luckily we have a big back coming off of a RS in Croney, Ryen, and two solid looking incoming freshman.

I certainly don't want a whole bunch of players to leave, as I felt really good about our overall talent level last year, and felt they were just a few better decisions away from being solid. However, I understand that some of them will feel like they signed up for a certain culture, and may want to explore their options. I get it, but hope that a lot of them decide to give this a chance.

Honestly, If they don't want to buy in to the new coaching staff.... **** em! Rather have them gone than bringing everyone down with their negativity!

This program needed the change that is happening.

So were we a few coaching decisions away from 6 wins last year or 10-20 players away? Which is it?

I was under the impression that we had the players to get it done, but not the coaches. This sucks if it's true that we are losing experienced guys. If it's only these 2, then fine, but 12-15? That is going to hurt any chance of being a bowl team next year.

Tucker , Harris, campos, etc...... You don't care about?

Dude they aren't going anywhere. DM better hope he's graduating this spring or he's done playing football. Too bad abut JT think he had bright future and was solid...but the two positions im not too worried about are RB and WR. As a player you had to expect given 8 wins in last 3 years and CMC style that winter workouts and off season was going to be brutal..but if you hold on you might just find yourself with a shot to play at next level in future.

It's is the best we've had according to scout since hey started their rankings in 2001.

What kind of relevance does Bruce having the #2 class even have any longer?

So what im seeing from your posts, using the same logic as you, is CMC should cut schollys of every player he didn't bring in himself and start 100% over.

What some of us are saying is that we can't get rid of everyone, so we hope we keep some quality players to make next year work.

Guys that want to go can go, and you take the consequences on the field in the near future to make a better long term future, that is my logic.

The reasoning being so what if keeping these guys gets us 3 wins instead of 2? or 4 wins instead of 3? Because that is what these guys do as has been proven.

The word ever is what i was talking about. He used I didn't. So forever means since 2001? Got it. We've all been alive forever, except maybe BDK.

IDK who Andrew Smith is, but Indian Outlaw (person who RT'd it) is Jake Rhoads. Paul Rhoads son.

I realize a RT isnt an endorsement but I found this interesting considering I've heard from a good source close to the program that there is a group of probably 12-15 guys on the team that share this same sentiment as Andrew Smiths tweet.

I'll take Mediocrity all day after what we've been thru.

Oh, boneheaded stuff like promoting the program. Got it. Well, the notion that that is "boneheaded" is why the previous staff failed.

I guess whoever it is that's tweeting that crap thinks it's much more effective to go around poormouthing about how tough it is to win at ISU and how challenging it is to get recruits to make a visit to Ames. Like many have said, I'm ready to move on from the hard hat routine to something more relevant to today's aspiring athlete.

There is middle ground between the two, you guys know that, right?

I'm pretty damn hip but I don't have a clue what he's getting at.

Saw some key players at the recruitment day celebration in Sukup. Tucker, Peavy, Lazard. They were positioned to be signing autographs on posters, so they seemed to be embracing the new regime.

Best part of hiring a head coach who brings along his staff is they all know the culture they want to instill. Need to do that from day one....and in this instant gratification, quick fix world we live in, it's hard. I support Coach and his staff to get it right from the start. Go Cyclones....

So who rated that Bruce class then? And how much film/research could people really do at that time any way?
