Mono

Whats all this white **** crusted and mounded on my tonsils ? It cant be good. How do I go about removing it or does it come off after a while. Ive tried gargling salt water and Listerine.

I had that exact symptom in 3rd or 4th grade. Got tested for mono, negative, but I was told to gargle and I remember my dad taking Q tips to try to scrape/ rub some of the white stuff off. I can't remember if the doc recommended that or not.

I had it in college, was out of commission for a few weeks but my doc told me I couldn't drink for 6 weeks because my liver was inflamed. That sucked but I saved like $300.

Our house was supposed to have a kegger this coming weekend.

Drink lots of Vodka sours and vegas bombs. This will get rid of the white stuff and the sand.

Also, smell your tranny's fluid to make sure it is blown, before you get a new tranny.

Mono can run out to about 18 months (if severe enough). My son's girlfriend go it during cross country in 2012 and is just now getting completely over it. Caused her to miss her entire sophomore track season.
This has been a long ordeal for her. A neighbor got it, parents kept him home (hid his running shoes) for 2-3 weeks and was back within 6 weeks. It varies greatly from person to person. A lot has to do with how soon you find out you have it and getting enough rest to let your body fight it.

Yes, Mono can take you out for a long time. It scares the **** out of me. Its probably my most feared "normal" illness.
Ive had several friends who have had it and it took them months before they felt like themselves again. The thought of feeling really run down and lethargic for months on end is completely disgusting.

I would recommend to take it easy and you should be fine. The worst thing I remember is the awful sore throat where it hurt to swallow. I tried going back to track practice within a week my Sophomore year..Bad decision. Just take it easy, sleep a lot and you shouldn't be out of commission for long.

None of your responses are making me feel any better haha except Peter Catfish

Remember having it when I was at ISU. I remember being really tired for a couple weeks and sleeping a lot. The doctor was concerned about my spleen or liver(can't remember which one) being enlarged and to be careful about drinking or exerting myself much. It just seemed like a flu that took 2 weeks to get over instead of 1 for me.

Yeah as much as it sucks I wouldn't plan on drinking at it. While you have mono your spleen is enlarged and alcohol will make it work harder causing the possibility of it bursting. If it bursts, you have much bigger problems and it can be life threatening. Not to scare you just warn you so you don't do something stupid. I'm really surprised your doctor didn't tell you this stuff.

Hepatitis also frequently accompanies mono (I had it). If your liver is already under a bit of an attack, alcohol is really REALLY not a good idea.

That's thrush. You may have AIDS. See your doctor.

I had mono during finals for fall semester junior year. Got through four of them and fell asleep during the fifth one. Took the prof forever to wake me apparently, everyone else was gone. I had told him I had it before the test, and he kind of stuck me in the hall. But he was nice, just took it back and told me to come take it again in January. When I got home for break, I slept for 20 hours straight. Amazed I didn't have to pee. On the bright side, when one of my kids got it when he was in second grade, I could take care of him without worrying about getting it myself. Seemed like my entire head hurt, but especially my throat. Sleep and Mom's soup.

I'm starting to wonder the credibility of said doctor. He did feel my spleen but it didnt hurt . He gave me prescriptions and kicked me out the door pretty much. I was in much to big of haze to ask all the questions I have now.

I was diagnosed with mono last night. Like a couple of others, I have white patches near my tonsils and they are causing swallowing discomfort. Back of mouth was sore for 1.5 days. I went to urgent care last night thinking I had strep. I’m already anxious about other things in life and I’m not looking forward to bedtime. Got zero sleep last night. Anyone had experience with that white sht and please tell me it won’t go away for at least two weeks

Had mono before my senior year in high school (amongst a few other things). Got over it in a week and played in our first football game that year. Wasn’t a fun week though. The hives at the end were insane.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I’m a highly emotional person and I’m really having a hard time with this. I know people go through worse
