Mizzou

Until they stop confusing Z with S, Missourians will be looked at as backwards hillbillies. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That and confusing the last i for uh. You hear educated people here say Missouruh way too may times. Get it straight people

Just checking out their schedule, looks like they lost to two good teams, Xavier and Illinois, on neutral floors, and they lost at Nebraska which you can take however you want. They have two good wins over USC and Cal, but the rest of their wins are against cupcakes.

2009 scouting report for Missouri

is it just me or does anyone else find it kinda funny this thing predicts missouri to go 12-4 in conference? 25-6, 12-4, give them a frickin 4 seed in the NCAA tourny... just dont see them in the same class as Xavier, Marquette, Notre Dame, or Georgetown... (12-16 ranked teams right now)

FWIW Cyclone Alley is taking 200 students to the game. I think more went to Nebbie last year but they capped it at 200 this year i believe

So you either read my post and didn't understand it, or you are just trying to make yourself feel better. I feel sorry for you if it is the latter.

Typically, ISU fans are pretty cool people. I guess there are exceptions.

Xavier doesn't really support your argument. MU went something like 4-15 from the FT line in the second half against Xavier and dominated every other facet to lose a close game in Puerto Rico. The two teams are pretty equal from what was actually shown on the court on that day.

Hi! Mizzou fan here. Since you guys are "the education state," I thought I'd come by and explain to you where "Mizzou" comes from.

Mizzou, it not a misspelling of the state name Missouri. Mizzou comes from when the University of Missouri was previously named Missouri State (really long time ago). Obviously, the acronym for the school at that time was MSU. As time went on, people just started pronouncing Mizzou instead of saying M S U every time. It is very similar to Washington State (WSU) going by Wazzoo, except Mizzou came long before Wazzoo.

Hopefully this will prevent future embarrassment of thinking Missourians spell Missouri as Mizzou. Have a nice day.

I've lived in Missouri for 15 years and always wondered where they came up with Mizzou. Now I know. Good luck with the rest of your games except for two (three if we meet in the tourney).

yeah ur right... XU doesn't consistently make the sweet 16 and elite 8 while MU doesn't consistently miss the tourny year in and year out... they are in the same class...

I went to Nebbie last year with some friends. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. Had to park by the beef barn and then headed over to the game. Once I got inside there were birds flying around the ceiling, and I said, man, this place is a dump. One Cornhusker fan there told me it was built really close to the time of Hilton and I was just in a daze after that. I thought the place had a high school feel, but bigger, and built in the 40's.
Only in Nebraska will they name a basketball arena after a football coach...

exactly the same thoughts here, but wow that was alot of fun!! do you remember when we blocked the spotlights during the starting lineups?? lol

Yup! You were in the twilight zone. You were in Nebraska!

All of those things are part of the fun of living there. I think the football coach naming may be the funniest part.

As long as we've got a couple of Show-Mes on the thread, can either of you (supertone or StLouisClone) give us an update on Leo Lyons? Is he going to be playing tomorrow or not?

Wish I could. I haven't found anything in print saying that his "indefinite suspension" has been lifted. I'll keep looking and post it if/when it happens. We really need him against Brackins.

He will play...

Interesting stat to me.

Mizzou has 9 guys who have played in every game this year.

Lyons would have made 10.

And Tinsley's three right before one of the buzzers that bounced high off the back iron and dropped straight through...

That shot was at Oklahoma State to send it to over-time on Big Monday, the game before ISU and Missouri's 4 OT game.
