If you would like to see an interesting pregame warmup go to YouTube and search Minnesota basketball pregame 1975. It should be the first video at the top and about 19 minutes long. The first couple minutes show Indiana warming up, but things pick up when Minnesota comes out. At least watch long enough to see the unicycle. If you are a young guy that needs an explanation there is a link to a newspaper article that explains the whole thing on Fran Fraschila's Twitter.

My dad went to Minnesota during those years and I'm pretty sure I've heard about that routine at least twice a year since I started watching basketball.

I'm not ashamed to say Fred is letting us down. With his time under Flip we should be doing this. Stensland could be the unicycle guy.
Pretty pathetic, IMO. Fred has skated by because of what, a few good seasons? All the elite coaches have unicyclists. If we ever want to take the next step as a program, we need to get rid of Hoiberg in favor of a pro-unicycle head coach. Someone email JP.

I hope Indiana whooped their butts that night. Minny was a stellar 8-10 in conference play that year, with no post season. Time well spent in practice...

2) during Fred's playing days, there was a guy who ran halftime activities from a unicycle! Fans of a certain age will remember him saying "hello everybody" and everybody answering back "hi Ed!" to initiate the Shoot 5-for-5 sponsored by...."Benson Motors"

Went to see my parents this weekend (wait it's only Tuesday??!?) and my dad said he remembers going to many games and said how fun it was. I'm totes jelly.
Ed Gagnier. Coached men's gymnastics. He was a stellar juggler also, and is a really nice guy. Still lives in Ames. His banner is up there with Johnny's (it was unrolled a couple of months ago), and I believe there is going to also be a second *official* ceremony during one of the MBB conference games.
