If this is true and it is Stoops, I will be surprised for two reasons.
1) Pollard hired a guy who simply has not proven much.
2) The media/fans figured it out 5 days before it was announced.
Knowing how JP had worked in the past, I'd say there is about a 2% chance that it's Stoops.
some of you are showing a lot of visciousness toward this possible hiring. JP has a lot more information than we do, so I'm inclined to trust the man in charge of this process.
And spend piles of money even though we don't agree with the decisions. That's how you get changes made. You're right...we should be sheep.
the record speaks for itself

I really dont understand the hate for Stoops. The guy def. has a coaching pedigree, is turning things around at AZ (they were awful for a whole there), and has plenty of recruiting ties.
And for anybody who questions his W-L record this year, look at this schedule! I would be more than happy playing BYU in a bowl game this year after that schedule!!
8/30 Idaho 1-0 (0-0) W 70-0
9/06 Toledo 2-0 (0-0) W 41-16
9/13 @ New Mexico 2-1 (0-0) L 36-28
9/20 @ UCLA 3-1 (1-0) W 31-10
10/04 Washington 4-1 (2-0) W 48-14
10/11 @ Stanford 4-2 (2-1) L 24-23
10/18 No. 25 California 5-2 (3-1) W 42-27
10/25 No. 5 USC 5-3 (3-2) L 17-10
11/08 @ Washington State 6-3 (4-2) W 59-28
11/15 @ Oregon 6-4 (4-3) L 55-45
11/22 No. 21 Oregon State 6-5 (4-4) L 19-17
12/06 Arizona State 7-5 (5-4) W 31-10
With the talent we have coming back (if they all stay) I think Stoops could come in here and win right away!! Isnt that what we are looking for?
