Mike Stoops 2008 = Brian Kelly 2006

I'll support whomever JP hires..........I don't care if it is John Madden. So if it is Stoops, deal with it or move on and change your diapers. If it is Stoops, the thought perhaps is, he has improved their program and has worked out the bugs in learning to be a HC....I don't know and neither do you! We have no idea what he has had to deal with down there, especially if Wiki is your source. In the end, I am not thrilled to have another coach that may be from the EIU tree, however, I just want to win and have a respected FB program. And if that means Stoops, I will buy tickets.

How many nay sayers even buy tickets to the games on this site? I'd bet a large portion doesn't even support the AD department in anyway other than mentioning ISU when you are crapping on them when noting your knowledge, or lack there of on this site..

Nope just that everyone in Cyclone land was saying Kelly and JP came in and said he got the guy he wanted all along.

Now with that being said, Chizik didn't pan out and JP CANNOT get this one wrong. I just don't think that Mike Stoops is the answer. If he is he will garner my full support until he proves he doesn't deserve it.

Auburn just hired a 5-19 coach... it's not impossible for us to hire a below .500 coach.

But that was not a week 1 hire. Auburn had been looking for a coach for weeks and had been turned down by a lot of candidates before they got desperate enough to hire a 5-19 coach.

Its not a fair comparison - Chizik in year 5 may have had something. Stoops in his last three years is 6-6, 5-7, 7-5 thats .500 ball for a team that when he took it over had won 3 games the previous 2 years. I think he's done a decent job and he's got a great recruiting class coming in. He's a great recruiter and its obvious that he's at least a decent coach because you don't upset the number of teams he's upset the past 5 years without some coaching ability. He's knocked off 5 ranked teams in the last 5 years - regardless of conference thats good coaching

valid points possibly - it's one thing to upset teams like ucla, asu and oregon but does he really have what it takes to upset Texas, Oklahoma or Texas Tech? I'll get behind him if he's actually hired but I agree with some of the others that this could be a Kelly smoke screen.

Can anyone here remember the last time ISU knocked off a top 25 team????

Since 2002 we've beaten Iowa twice while ranked and Colorado once. There have been some mediocre Big 12 ranked teams in there we couldnt beat so i'm not going to underestimate what he's done at Arizona.

Again, the most important thing is Assistants. That is where my greater concern lies.

Trust me on this. I rather loose to a team ranked #20 than lose to two teams that have a combined wins of....4......

Stoops does usually win one game against a good opponent (not sure if we are just being over looked though) but Arizona plays to the level of their opponents. We lose to USC by 7 points and could have won that game but then give up 30 in the first half to oregon, lose to standford and NMU.

Although the first two seasons it was nice, but in the fith we just want a little more, than another losing season you know. This season we should have been greater than what we are, our schedule was soooooooo easy, especially with the pac 10 not doing so well.
