That certainly is a random post.
I both know of him and like a lot of his work. He, Jimmy Swaggart, and Jerry Lee Lewis are all cousins...from the Ferriday, Louisiana area.
Gilley's (his bar) was the club in Urban Cowboy. It was a destination joint in Pasadena, Texas (blue collar suburb of Houston) back in the 80s.

Saw him at the Cattle Congress in Waterloo when I was ~12 years old. Third row seats. Strange but true.
