Michigan State's Pro Combats

I didn't read into it earlier when I looked at these. But someone please tell me there is a history behind the gold and that's not just Nike's doing. That is awful.

I hate these. They needed to keep the sparkly green and white. Dark Green and black, bleh.

The gold is stupid. One of Nike's brilliant marketing schemes to make them look like...USF? Notre Dame? Who knows. The unis would look outstanding if instead of gold highlights they were silver, but that makes too much sense.

I generally don't like most of the Pro Combats. School colors are the most identifiable thing about a team's uniforms. It's one thing to wear black when that's not a color, it's another to add a completely different hue out of nowhere.

Army and Navy do have some pretty sweet ones.

Sweet.. When do we get jerseys that don't even have our team colors in it?? I say we should try for a black and maybe an extremely dark red that makes no sense...

Nike and Under Armour going at it to see who can make uglier, busier uniforms...unfortunately, the fans are the victims.

ISU should go with Nike and get some of these. We should use the logo before the I state one on the gloves those would be tight

Um, hate to break this to you, but ISU has been with Nike for the better part of a decade now (the women's basketball team even longer).

I'm sure ISU would love the publicity that goes with having Pro Combat unis, but unfortunately, the last time ISU was good enough for Nike to pick us would for the campaign have been the Earl Bruce era...

As far as why Michigan St is using gold? Probably to resemble the bronze weaponry and armor the actual Spartans used:

Personally I think they're sick, and are one of the better Pro Combat uniforms ever created. Not overly busy.

The 'gold' is supposed to be bronze which is what spartan armor was made of.

Inside they say 'Molon Labe' which is what Leonidas supposedly yelled to the persians when they demanded the spartans surrender their weapons. Pretty badass if you ask me.
