Message from Brock for Tomorrow Night

This is so great! I'm excited to have Brock back in Ames. He probably doesn't grasp how the 49ers and him have completely captivated all of us for the past year. I'll never forget being in Hilton last December and the video board going to the 49er's game during every time out.

Also, this video is old, but always a classic---

I really hope they play this video before the game for everyone. CLASSIC!!

No way does Brock get his jersey retired. All due respect to Brock, but he did not win any awards and his greatest team accomplishment was an Orange Bowl in a not normal season of college football. He was a 2-time Big 12 first team guy, and holds several Big 12 records, but I still don't think you do this. 15 is special to Iowa State football the way 11 is to Men's Basketball.
Purdy was in the orange bowl? I mean if he played in the fiesta and orange bowl that year, then it really is quite an accomplishment!!!

We won the Big 12 in 2020. We finished the season with the best record in the conference and everyone played everyone.

From 2011-2016 that meant you got to call yourself the Big 12 champ. So **** it, we won the Big 12. We also won the Fiesta Bowl.

Brock Purdy is worthy of getting his jersey retired. The only thing is that he shares that number with one of the other all time greats.
Thank you, Al, for continuing to beat this drum. Frankly, it blows my mind how FEW Cyclone fans actually make a big deal of this. Conferences got forced to implement championship games due to financial pressures and the supposed need for the "13th data point." But it truly added little competitive value to the B12 during the round robin years.

ISU finished alone at the top of the standings after a true round robin. That was good enough at one point for football, and there is a regular season and tournament champ in basketball. Yet ISU football gets no hardware or official recognition for this historic feat for the program.

It's total horse crap.

Two great #15s who ran the offense, one 4 year starter, the other 2 year transfer.

Two great #11s who ran the offense in hoops, one 4 year starter, the other 2 year transfer.

No reason they have to be in some kind of competition. The two four year players in question were ALL OVER the Big 12 record books when they graduated, I mean completely all over the place. Even with the covid year Monte still is top 10 in a crazy number of B12 stats.

If Brock and Breece aren't retired jersey all-timer types we probably just won't ever have any. I'm not sure I'm taking Troy Davis over Breece, it's a discussion. Brock is easily the most productive QB in ISU history.

It feels like the ultimate "we're shifting the goal posts to **** Iowa State" move.

There's absolutely no reason to not recognize a regular season champ in football when we actually determine one.

I was coming to see if that had been posted yet. So good.

Crazy that this was 11 years ago and how much JTS has changed it just that short amount of time.

Even including the CCG it was basically a dead tie with OU and the head to head slightly favored ISU by 2 points. It's semantics. Both teams had similar dominant wins in their bowl too.

Yeah, it's like hoops. At least back when it was an exact dead even schedule an outright regular season champ really is a champion of something for sure, probably moreso than the ccg.

Now with the potential of wildly unbalanced schedules (even more next year) in FB I'd say only the CCG winner really matters other than a few years when a team or two might get hosed from a weird tie break scenario.

I remember thinking that video was incredible when it came out, and when you compare it to the one that just dropped, it's wild to see how much the camera work and production and all of that has come in a decade. The world has changed more in the past 10 years than I sometimes realize.

I'm rarely optimistic, but feels like we curb stomp KU.

First home game in 30 days, seems like the team still has a chip on their shoulder, national broadcast, night game, rowdy Jack Trice, Brock Purdy, KU coming off a huge win, offense hitting their stride....

If I'm wrong... I'm never documenting optimism again.

Didn't even think to realize that part of it. Night and Day difference now for sure.

It would be pretty cool to get a good Brock Purdy cheer going whenever they bring him onto the field. Do it like a Cyclone Power one with the east half doing Brock and the west half doing Purdy.

...and in the grand scheme of Iowa State football, that's probably like the 2nd best resume someone has.
