See I don't get why everone was upset with that. All season long I have been reading that our offense is predictable and never does anything with misdirection. Then we run a reverse and everyone *******. I liked the play call, but the defense made a great play to stop it.

I think the issue was down & distance. If it were me, a trick play should be saved for 3rd & long or perhaps 2nd & short. On 3rd & short, why take that kind of a gamble?

Problem with this is that 2nd & short is almost always viewed as a throw away down, in other words you take your shot deep and/or run a trick play. DC's know this, but on 3rd down they would expect ISU to run straight ahead (based on our tendencies) so I thought it was a good call. It is one of those plays were if it worked and it went for a TD everyone would have thought it was genius, but since it didn't work it was a horrible call.

Yes I did and I guarantee everyone on this board would have to if it would have worked. You guys are always complaining about vanilla play calling and I would consider running up the middle on 3rd and 2 (like we do 90% of the time) to be vanilla.

I was expecting an out pass even with the line of scrimmage well short of the first down marker. What would have been a real surprise would have been a shot downfield.
