Iowa State was 17-14 in 2002-2003 season with Vroman, Homan, and Sullivan. I realize those 3 guys had great careers but they are nowhere near as athletic as Brackins, Clark, and Johnson.
Well, considering that you think that Peterson should be a bench player on most teams, I'm not sure what you're thinking. I don't know of many point guards in the last 4 games (regardless of the relatively weak competition) who had 29 assists and 1 turnover. Having 1 turnover through 4 games for any point guard is fantastic. But, 29 assists, that's great! This includes against Purdue and Alabama. And he has been our best 3-point shooter. Having a JC transfer be able to step in like that and learn the system so quick is great. The younger guys have to be learning alot from him as well.
I had a friend in high school that played NAIA ball, and when I saw him after starting his season, I asked him what the biggest difference between high school and college ball was, he replied without hesitating that it was quickness.
He was astounded how quick everyone was and at the overall speed of the game. I wonder if BP had to make a similar adjustment from JUCO to D-I and he is now "getting it." He looked really slow out there at the beginning of the season, and I don't notice that so much now.
Cyclone#1, your tearing down Cory Johnson at any available opportunity, makes me think that you have something personal against him or his family. Do you happen to know his parents or work in the same field as his family? I know the answer and it sure doesn't make you an independent observer of Cyclone basketball.
Why do you feel the need to point it out? If you think someone else should be playing instead, talk about why that player should be playing, not why Cory shouldn't.
I just respond to those who try to tell me how great this kid is after he has an OK game against a team that is barely a DI team.
What I really find fascinating is how some on this site speak out of one side of their mouth telling us how great a coach McDermott is and then out of the other side of their mouth bemoaning the fact that CJ doesn't get more minutes. If you think McDermott can coach then you should trust his judgment in playing this kid typically less than 5 minutes a game (when the game is actually on the line against a decent opponent).
I see a lot of basketball (SEC in person, Louisiana state HS in person, national on TV) and I just do not see this kid as being able to be a true contributor to the success of a Big 12 level team.
What would LSU do?
