On my very first trip to ISU for a college visit in the fall of 1997, there was an organized lunch at the Lied Rec center. Hakeem Abdel-Khaliq (how many people remember him?) was there shooting around. I couldn't understand why he was still at ISU since he was a senior earlier that year, so my dad had to explain it to me...and that's how I learned what grad school is.

Later in that day, I watched Colorado beat us in football in the closing seconds of the game. It would have been ISU's first victory over Colorado in my lifetime.

Oh yeah? Fred passed me the ball at the Rec Center because he knew I was money. OK. My ball errantly bounced out of bounds and he kindly retrieved it for me.
