McCarney wide right...........

How about the Kansas, or the Missouri, or the Nebraska game in 2005?
Don't forget Baylor that year, or Iowa, CU, and Mizzou the year before. How about UConn in '02. The list of close games McCarney blew is long and staggering. Winning some of those could have really taken the program to new heights. The fact that he consistently lost the most important games is the reason he is no longer employed at ISU. He wins 1 North title out of those 04-05 seasons, and he still has a job.

God forbid we ever try and improve. Pollard should've just given Mac a lifetime contract, not bother and try to improve our facilities. I'd rather go down swinging than go down sitting...

Facility upgrades were happening before Pollard got there, indoor practice facility and Jacobsen building. The only thing he has done so far is "sell" the program. Talking time is over, we need to see some improvement soon. Tell me "how" we are better now than 4 years ago?

I guess we now have "close" games with Kent State, UNI, UNLV.

Yep, I wish somebody would have made DMac play some Playstation. You score when you can.

I will never forget the Texas Tech game where DMac tried to run out the clock with 3 minutes before the half. Tech used their timeouts, got the ball back, and went down and scored a touchdown. I knew right then that DMac was no longer fit to be head coach at ISU.
I agree, so true. This and the time he elected to go for a field goal when down by four. WTF:confused:

Monty Burns would have been criticizing George Washington in 1779. Sometimes you have to go through some pain before things improve and I think some of us get to caught up in the "want it now" epidemic that is sweeping this nation.

The Jake was built in '95, not exactly a new facility. In the 90's we spent around $43 million (in 2008 dollars) in facility improvements. Since 2000, we have spent over $59 million (in 2008 dollars) in facilities improvements.

To break that down for you-
Facilities improvements before JP (includes Bergstrom, Hixson-Lied and improvements to Veenker and the soccer field, does not include the Ice Arena): $20,924,666.

Facilities improvements that are directly a result of JP (includes JT and the BB practice facility, does not include Hilton improvements): $38,438,260

So since JP arrived in fall of 2005, we have spent nearly as much on facility improvements as we did in the '90's.

*All figures in 2008 dollars.

Geez, to apease some of you we should rebuild Clyde Williams field and call it good enough, see if Criner still want to coach, offer lifetime tickets for $30, and see if Wartburg is looking for a new rival. For God's sake people we are in "do or die" mode with the powers of the big xii and it will require taking some chances, not all of which will work out. But to rest on our laurels which we never even had and say that below average is good enough is a one way ticket out of division 1 college football.

Not all of them? Will at least some of them ever work out?

The Iowa City paper The Press Citizen is treating this trial like a murder case. Iowa City is full of rich girls who come from wealthy families (chicago suburbs) who drink way too much and have a hissy fit as they get arrested. Disgruntled Hawk fans are just using whatever route they can to vent built up anger that Dan Mc Carney owned them during his time in Ames. The paper is even known by locals as bad journalism. What she did was silly, but how some reporters are handling it is downright shameful.

What? I see no coverage. I hate the PC, but not enough to make stuff up on CF.

No. During the Everson/Satterfield catastrophe, the ICPC was known on this board as an excellent piece of journalism.

We've sucked in basketball and football for the past two years, and he thinks its Pollards fault that two hot coaches (that were heavily sought by other schools) turned out to be duds...

And Pollard gives contract extensions without the coach doing anything to earn them. That's one of my biggest beefs with the man. It's one thing to extend a coach out of necessity late in the original contract for recruiting purposes but that wasn't the case with these two guys.

Drive, I might be dead wrong, and if so then apologize upfront, but McDermott's contract extension was tied to the initial contract he signed when it was feared that Iowa State may get hit with penalties under Morgan's tenure. That is normal, because no one could expect to win with that.

I am not sure what you mean by contract extension for Chizik ( I am assuming you mean him). I am in business, and there are just sometimes no matter what you do, it is wriong, and then there are times no matter what you do it always seems to work. I say we have good coaches in place, and we certainly have an AD that is honorable and has a high amount of integrity. That is worth alot to me.

I believe you are correct.

Wow. Can you believe it? Another post on CF excusing terrible performance because of being "honorable" and having "integrity". :jimlad:

No. They don't.

They just shouldn't be the measurement of an athletic director. They should absolutely be an expectation, but in no way should be an excuse or justification for poor performance.

Tell me your way of measuring? Given the circumstances he's been under since getting to Ames, tell me oh great one what you would have done different even knowing what you do now.

You are the kind of fan that would rather have corruption and wins than what we have.

Lastly, how much of your income do you contribute to make things better in Ames?
