McD got a pass on the guys the bolted right when he was hired and everybody knows that Taylor had to go because of his own stupidity. It's the other dozen or so guys that he ran off that had people worried.
yah, thats a fair point. Hopefully the attrition will slow down, I highly doubt it will stop however. In case anyone didn't notice we have 4 commits for 3 open spots for the 2011 class.

Dendy tried to leave Greg last year during the season. It was 50/50 him being here this year with your buddy. Boozer hit a woman, and I think it is justified to remove a player for that. Oliver has a heart condition and left to be closer to home.
How is any of that on Fred losing players because they wanted didn't want to play for him, like EVERYONE did with chewy.
Did you read the part about attrition happens to everyone?
We are going to lose players, hell even your hero ran guys like Wes Eichmeyer off because he thought he couldn't play.

Dendy really stuck it to himself. I think this would have been a decent year for him.

2. Boozer was arrested, Oliver was a soph that would not have played, and Dendy was 50/50 on returning at best.
3. He's planning ahead for any number of situations beyond his control. This has been discussed in numerous threads on this board, so yeah everyone has noticed. This way he doesn't end up signing Missouri Valley talent to fill a B-12 roster, which is what the last guy did.

Did we give a pass to Greg for losing Taggart, Carr, Stinson, Blalock, etc? Yes, we did. So unless you want to put all those guys on Greg I think you should rethink your stance on this.
Also, Boozer and Taylor are not comparable. Boozer was already on the team when Fred showed up. Greg recruited Taylor, and Mike already got a DUI prior to him showing up on campus that summer and ISU squashed that story. Little bit of a difference in situation.
Oliver was as good as gone in December, long before Greg was fired.
Dendy sucks to lose. However if Fred is at fault for a guy as flaky as Dendy (who he did not recruit) I'd hate to see all the stuff we could put on Greg again.
Please link to where anybody made any claim remotely close to this. You got called out for a dumb premise, and now you're making outlandish claims to make yourself look less ridiculous. Guess what, it's having the opposite affect.
Regardless of attrition, the most refreshing thing that I haven't heard from the new coaching staff are the comments like "with only 3 returning scholarship players, were almost worse than a program that had the death penalty", or "its going to take time to get the type of player I need for my system", or "were really in year 1 of our program given what we've had to deal with".
Fred is going at this like someone lit a fire under his ***. With no experience leading a major D1 basketball program, there will likely be some growing pains along the way, but I like his approach.

So, where does Otzelberger fit into all this? He's a great recruiter, but we haven't had the players to put together a winning team with his (and McD's) recruiting.
Has he switched the type of player he is recruiting since Hoiberg got here?
Are the better players he is recruiting more likeley to come to ISU now?
Are the players he recruits going to stay, and that's good enough to improve us?
