Typical "move on...nothing to see here. Keep moving. nothing to see here" attitude from hok fans
taz, good to see you again. I sort of skipped the first 3 pages of the thread since it looks like a lot of flaming and raging (umad, mikem?). Just gonna start with here on page 4.
You are desperately hanging on to the City Boyz incidents, aren't you? You love the Satterfield/Everson incident, huh? To continue to bring it up is intriguing. Let us get down to it.. we had some bad characters in that era who made some bad decisions. Those players were removed from the team and some continued to make bad decisions afterwards and some faded away. In the large part that pretty much sums it up, right? And I must point out there is nothing deflecting in that paragraph, there clearly was a problem with those players.
So we'll proceed to the article in question. 15 of the cases were alcohol related, one was disorderly conduct and 2 were possession charges. The DJK situation is an absolute joke of a situation, he brought it on himself, and he deserved way more in the legal area than he got. He was also removed from the team after this incident. Adam Robinson was already on suspension and that suspension became indefinite after his encounter. 2 possession charges, 2 departures.. can you say that ISU's results have been the same?
The disorderly conduct charge is touchy as well. Whether you believe innocent or not, the disorderly charge is what came of it. It was a very stupid decision and is in no way related to any other incident that has/had occured.
To the meat of the subject, the alcohol related charges. To try to slam KF on the subject is laughable. Attempt to make the argument with a straight face that this is not a university issue but purely a football program issue. The university is known for its drinking, parties, bar scene, what have you. Like it or not, admit it or not, the party scenes at UofI and ISU are different. Does this deflect guilt from the program? Not necessarily because the players (need to) understand A) you're in the spotlight B) you need to make better decisions. My point rests being that this is also a university issue which is not going to go away anytime soon. I feel like,
for the most part, KF does what he can.
If Iowa were to begin having problems again, such as the City Boyz incident, or another DJK incident.. then yes, bring out the "WTF" statements.
While I have the floor, also going to ask if you truly feel there is not a double standard for ISU and UofI.. what if it was Iowa that was bringing in the players that ISU bball is bringing in?
