Matt Rhule interviewed with the Colts

I think that Indy is in the middle of finding a 2-3 year sacrificial lamb who might be able to develop young talent. They are going to suck, stockpile the draft picks, and then when they get enough talent, fire the poor sap and bring in a real coach with a chance to actually do something. It kills me as a Colts fan to say it, but the Colts are looking at trying their best to be worse than the Browns.

And waste three prime years of Andrew Luck's peak...? He is 28. You do not do that kind of tanking when you have a top ten caliber QB around.

Due to location Baylor shouldn’t be down long and will have good recruiting classes, with or without Rhule.
Except Texas, A&M, OU, and TCU are all trending very well right now with incredible coaches. Can I see Baylor being an average team? Yeah. They won’t get back what they did have under the Enablers and won’t have that flash.
Crazy that A&M was able to land Jimbo.

Really? This would be on par with Chizik landing the Auburn job after winning 5 games in two years. I thought Baylor still had some talent, especially offensively and he got virtually nothing out of them.

They were competitive in some games, OU and WVU were two of them and they played ISU tough as well. The only reason they didn't do better later in the season was depth. Their defense and Oline had no one to fall back on when someone went down.

If Ruhle stays at Baylor for a couple years he will, unfortunately, start turning that program back around. He's smart, he brought in texas high school guys around the staff to help in recruiting and look what this years class is looking like. Like Iowa State has in the past, Baylor can now sell immediate playing time on both sides of the ball.

What's amazing is that he is pulling in a top-25 recruiting class.

And I don't think that changes weather he keeps interviewing for jobs or not. They were still a pretty talented team even with all the crap that went down there. I won't speculate on how they do it, but I have always been amazed at the talent Baylor was able to pull in.

I think he was looking to get out ahead of the impending lynch mob in Tallahassee. He went 6-6 just a few years removed from a natty. I'm pretty sure he wasn't in a good situation and it was going downhill. A&M is at least a fresh slate, and based on what they're paying him, he either goes down as a god in College Station, or retires very comfortably after getting **** canned.

I get the move on Jimbo's part completely.

That said, I think it's crazy that A&M hired him, and for that amount.

I hope the whole "we allowed rape" thing would have taken care of any recruiting strength they had, regime change or not.

Well, it didn't or, if it did, they are going to be a monster in the next few years. Once Rhule came in, that stuff did not matter.

Not to mention the money/facilities. For being a blue blood in college football, FSU isn't in great shape. They operate in the red, and have had pretty substandard facilities for a while. Also, Tallahassee is a dump of a city. Yes, it's in Florida, but not a nice part of Florida. The weather isn't as nice as much of the rest of the state. They're not on a beach or anything like that. It's not really a nice place.

I can totally see how College Station looked attractive to a guy like Jimbo. They were able to offer him money and facilities that FSU just couldn't.

Couple in your points about staying ahead of the lynch mob, and it's easy to see why he jumped ship.

I think he was ok with FSU. I think they understood the situation he was in this year and that it was going to be tough for them to win. Like you, I don't understand the move from aTm either though.

I also think I read something about getting out of there due to personal reasons. He filed for divorce from his wife and after they intended on deposing a former NFL player from Tallahassee, they settled really quickly. Make of that what you will. I think he wanted a fresh start in life and the guaranteed money at probably a pretty lateral job was a great way to do that.

This is laughably wrong. Tallahassee>>>>>>>College Station. And aTm has male cheerleaders, which is all anyone ever needs to know to make them go ANYPLACE but aTm. I won't let A&M grads in my house alone with my pets because A&M grads are THAT f'ng weird.
