Matt Perrault - consistent

I think he gets eager for big news to come down, since he has no history or interest in any programs in the midwest, I think that eagerness to talk something big makes him sound happy. In some ways he is happy to have something to talk about, however I don't think the happiness comes from wanting the downfall of a school or program.

Thank you. Best post I've read on here about me. I appreciate that.

I agree, he's consistently a jerk. He's been a jerk to John Walters, Rob Howe, Paul Clark, Brent Blum, Jon Miller and many others. He consistently comes off childish, arrogant and whiny. So yeah, he's consistent.

If guys like Jon Walters and Rob Howe want softball questions tossed their way, that's what Larry Cotlar is for. Perrault was perfectly in the right to question the Hoiberg hire and was perfectly right yesterday.
I would agree that he was accurate in the questioning of the Fred hire. The means and manner is/are highly questionable.

I understand the question he was asking yesterday. I even understand the assertion that SOMEBODY knew. What was particularly vile was him pointing to Stanzi knowing. It was wrong-headed and he should apologize for the unfounded allegation. I am NOT a Hawk fan-purely a Clone but when I listened to the podcast of that portion I really felt the ignition point was an unfounded allegation against a decent guy that has stayed out of trouble(from my limited knowledge of Stanzi).

The caller that said Matt put himself ahead of the listener was accurate. Matt has trouble submitting to his ego-when the better part of valor would be to pick fights more prudently. He has let his ego compromise his ability to get a lot of compelling interviews. He actually could be decent if he was willing to learn-my guess based upon a lot of his actions is that he probably won't learn.

The net of this is that his career will not flourish the way he wants...and the listener will probably miss out on interesting content.

Matt thrives off conflict, turmoil, and controversy.

He does not come across as exceedingly intelligent, definitely not articulate, and doesn't really have a wide scope of perspective to offer on the national sports scene.

Hopefully some day he can land a better job out on the east coast.

He didn't question the Hoiberg hire, he belittled and ridiculed it. He has/had every right question the hire. Doing so in a belittling manner, however, warrants the criticism he received.

Considering that Hoiberg has never been a coach on any level, Matt, as a sports talk host, who is paid to give his OPINION was abosuetely (sp?) right to give his opinion and call it a questionable hire.

I agree. He was right to question it. And I wouldn't have blamed him for predicting failure...it went down bad for Clyde Drexler. BUT, there are ways to do that without laughing about it and acting disrespectful, which is what Matt did. Let me recap that show immediately after the firing:

"Giggle, giggle. I mean, Fred Hoiberg? Really?? Giggle, giggle. How is he supposed to recruit? He's never coached a game in his life. Giggle, giggle. I have more coaching experience than Fred Hoiberg. And his staff will have Grayer and the current DM Energy coach? That's an entire staff who has not coached one single college game. Giggle, giggle, giggle. I don't see how Pollard thinks this will ever work. He must have been REALLY desperate. Giggle. Fred Hoiberg? Giggle".

Now imagine during that whole reaction, the ISU play by play guy is waiting on hold as the next guest listening.

I agree that he is certainly entitled to say whatever he wants, it's his show. And he does have a unique personality. What he doesn't have is talent. The constant stuttering and stammering, jumping from random comment to the next, horrible delivery, etc. is like nails on a chalkboard. I can't think of a less talented radio host that I've ever heard. Not sure what he was doing all those years in Huntsville and Omaha, but it wasn't polishing his skills, that's for sure.

Regardless of his opionions, the man is just hard to listen to.

You haven't listened to the new KXNO morning show, then. Whoever that Tim guy is, he has a terrible radio voice.

This kinda sums it up. CW is so much more polished on the radio - smoother delivery, doesn't interrupt, more measured and thoughful.

It's just like Matt's mouth is always about 3 steps ahead of his brain. He just starts running off at the mouth at the drop of a hat, without taking the time to form a rational thought first. You eventually understand what he means, but he takes about 10x as long as necessary to get you there.

IMO he's pretty far down the list of talent in the DM radio market, and that's probably not a good thing. He got absolutely buried in the ratings in Omaha by Unsportsmanlike Conduct, which is co-hosted by someone who does national broadcasts as well.

No, because I live in Omaha. But I have heard Travis Justice on the radio here, and his voice is pretty bad too. Not much a guy can do about the sound of his voice on the air, but one can work on their delivery, timing, attention to detail, etc.

Perrault is really trying to **** off the whole state of Iowa I think. Just seen this on one of his social network sites thought I would share.

Matthew J Perrault I'm 33 working in ... IOWA. I'd do 2 am to 5 am if they asked me :) thanks
