MATT ****ING THOMAS

hard to produce when you don't get minutes. with naz gone, matt knows he's going to be out there regardless.

instead of going 0-3 from three, he's going to go 4-9.

bronson koenig did the exact same thing last year. he played almost the entire game after the PG injury and his 3pt % went up 15 pts.

If Thomas continues to progress through next season, he will get some serious looks at the next level. As opposed to some others, he has the right build and skillset the NBA covets. For now, I'm enjoying his amazing season.

This will sound strange, but I think his focus on defense has helped his offense significantly. He was typecast as a one dimensional player (designated 3 point specialist), so he put so much pressure on himself to hit shots as soon as he hit the floor. He became a head case because the shots weren't falling consistently.

Now, he's very much an all-round player with his excellent defense and rebounding, so he doesn't fixate on his offense so much. He just shoots without thinking and the results have been outstanding.

Doesn't sound strange at all. He needed to know he could contribute in other ways besides hitting 3s.

Great play all year. Also noticed him taking some leadership role...gathering the team on the floor, being vocal and supportive. Actually the whole team seems so supportive of each other. Anybody else notice the big hug Halice got from McKay after he made his first shot?

Stellar play lately. Next years lineup with be interesting with all the guards we have coming back.

I'm probably wrong, but isn't MT surprisingly high on the NBA radar? I would think if he continues to play at this level, he'd declare for the draft after this year.

I agree. That's what I'm sorta worried about too. We have 4 guys that could potentially leave for the nba after this year. That is gonna sting if it happens.

I also think that his role has changed. Fred tried to use him like Tyrus McGee. So a lot of pressure to come in and hit shots immediately. If he didn't within a few minutes of play he was back on the bench.

I'm not trolling. I could swear that in one of CW's essays, he recalled a conversation he had with an NBA scout where they discussed some of the ISU players, and that MT figured prominently in that discussion.

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but it feels like the shelf life of an NBA player grows shorter the longer they stay in college. If MT has the NBA body, and performs at a high level this year, why wouldn't he get drafted?

I've got no problem with people telling me why I'm wrong. I honestly don't know this stuff.

I looked him up on my phone, and I couldn't find much info for him at the sites that popped up on Google, like Draft Express, or CBS Sports, so I must be wrong. He wasn't in CBS Sports' top 31 shooting guards. I guess I was wrong.

I dont think CBS is where you should be getting your NBA scouting info, tho. He might not be a household name, but it's not like they are overlooking him either. Long shot, yes. But still a shot.
