Matt A's replacement speculation

I thought TJ left to a) get more experience under another guy to hep him become a head coach and b) to move closer to the pacific coast so Allison could be closer to Australia. Seems like him coming back to ISU would defeat that completely.

Maybe he is a graduate of the Hambone School of Geography?

All good things must come to an end.

This program will never be in a nose dive s long as Fred is here. If he leaves, all bets are off, but you still have an attractive coaching job.

With Hilton, you're basically guaranteed 15-16 wins minimum as a starting point. Then you just have to figure out how to win 5-6 more and you're in the tourney.

We have facilities, we have some moderately good tradition and we have a great game atmosphere and fan following.

Okay, but why? Isn't he gainfully employed in his wife's homestate of Wash? Why would his next move not be a HC pos?

McD proved that each year.

His wife is from Australia. I realize that we are all not as involved as I am. But TJ is married to one of our more famous WBB players.

This program is in a nose dive Fred Hoiberg will leave next for the Bulls. You heard it here first.

T.J. coming back would be a home run hire for CFH IMO, assuming he doesn't get a HC job at UW-GB. He has proven to recruit Wisconsin and the MW well. Did a good job recruiting to Washington and I would assume has developed some West Coast AAU ties.

I'm going to be honest, I would have mixed feelings about bringing TJ back. Never met him, but have heard from most accounts that he is a good guy. He also helped build the program when Fred first got here.

On the other side, he left us for what was, at best, a lateral move at Washington. Feel like I haven't heard news of him bringing in any top-caliber talent there (no, Dime doesn't count). Just feel like we could make a bigger "splash" hire. Also, what GeorgesFan posted about not wanting him back concerns me/piques my interest.

That's right. Still don't see a reason for him to be the leader in the club house. Granted we've had more success than Wash but to move laterally to another asst pos and then back again. Don't see the dots connectingn.

For now, but another below average season for UW may change that.

I haven't got any idea if he wants to come back or if he's the guy Fred wants but his job stability may not be as much of an anchor as it was a few months ago.

Not sure if Peery is the right fit with CFH. Just read this about when he interviewed for the Southern Utah job three years ago.

Like every coaching process at SUU, the finalists for the job are required to meet with the returning players in the interviewing process. As told to me by this source, Peery met with SUU athletic director Ken Beazer for the job on Monday, as the last interviewee for the position. The meeting involved this customary meeting with the T-Bird players, and that’s when everything went awry for Peery.

The source explained how Peery was confrontational with the SUU players, yelling at the team — flat out being “rudeâ€￾ to each of the players. Peery was described as making the meeting “uncomfortableâ€￾ for everyone in the locker room and each of the players “had knots and their stomachs and talked about transferringâ€￾ after the meeting, according to the source.

Who knows? I do know that Jamie has kept in contact with him and that makes me wonder if he is on the short list once Fred leaves. Maybe Fred is interested in hiring his replacement?
