Marvin Clark

The speculation on here is comical. When it came out that he was announcing at 2 p.m. Saturday, that ruled out ISU because ISU has a game then. So, now that he has delayed it to next week, where is the speculation that maybe ISU is the leader and he didn't want to announce it during their game?

If you watch the video, this guy seems like a pretty level-headed, intelligent kid. I think he is honestly just trying to make what he thinks is the best decision for him and his situation, and he wants to get it right. Nothing more than that. I have not seen anything from him that indicates any preferred school.

Did notice in a posted article about his Indiana visit that he mentioned playing "right away". First time he was quoted about that. I thought Indiana had everyone back(starters) but Sheehey, but maybe he plays that position, idk. Who knows, maybe IU visit caused him to rethink MSU. Or MSU 'rethought' if for him..... Didnt Hines indicate there was reduced contact as far as ISU goes?

That Noah Vonaley is a forward for Indiana, and will likely go. Think he's projected to be lottery.

It would be awesome to get this guy to ISU. Seems like a possible fan favorite by the time he leaves. I could also see him getting minutes his freshman year. Lets hope he sees it that way as well.

Thought it was already said earlier that Hines indicated in his mailbag that there was reduced contact with him and ISU ?

Ya it sounds like ISU may have backed off a bit. That or Clark let the staff know we weren't in his top 3 and we decided to reduce our contact.

It is probably just coincidence that the kids we land don't seem to have mentors/handlers.

He has mentioned that he wants to play right away before and maybe even start if I remember correctly. He made these comments when his spring recruiting first started to pick up. With ISU having 5 players in the rotation now, 2 players red shirting that are expected significant time, 1 freshman that will be the projected back up point guard coming in and SDW who may see more time next year; It would seem that it would be a challenge for Clark to break in to the rotation with significant minutes. This could be why he has seemed to cool on ISU.

That is not a bad thing. I would love him as a player to come to ISU, but ISU has gotten to the point that if you want to play here you have to anticipate competing for minutes.

But, there is never a sure fire way to know that.

Having transfers ready to contribute will always pose a challenge for Fred (or any coach) trying to recruit a HS kid at the same position. It is what it is and it can be a cycle that's hard to break...if he even wants to.

With how much coach MattA has been tweeting about the success of all our past transfers, I just get the feeling the staff is set on getting a couple of talented transfers. Hopefully with one being able play right away.

I'm really hoping DeAndre comes out and puts on a show against Smart again tomorrow. If he does, I think there's a great chance he locks up B12 POY honors. That would be a big time selling point for future transfers and to land guys that are going to be chased by multiple big time programs. Antoine Mason for example.

If he doesn't, I really hope Ejim wins. Either way it'd be a win/win.

Until they change the rules regarding transfers, you may as well play to your strengths. At this point, we have a great reputation with actual proof that most transfers have thrived for us, and all played on tourney teams that finished in the top half of the league.

We're at least getting guys looks from scouts (Royce, Kane, Babb) and players are finding teams overseas when the NBA doesn't work out.

I do worry that eventually the rules regarding transfers will change, but until then, we may as well use them to our advantage.
