Again we, the United States, are going to be one of the LAST countries to be able to see Doctor Strange, which means that a lot of reviews for the movie are already out, making for a pretty favorable Rotten Tomatoes score so far. Most people like to just look at its Tomatometer score of 92% liked and think wow, this must be right up there with the best of them. What I want people to know is that I kind of hate that score as all it tells people is how many people looked at the film as favorable versus unfavorable. What I like much more is their actual average ratings score that actually rates the film on a 10 point scale. With that said, here is how Dr. Strange is looking right now on a ranking of that more accurate scale.

1. Marvel's The Avengers: 8.0/10 (92% liked)
2. Guardians of the Galaxy: 7.8/10 (91% liked)
3. Iron Man: 7.7/10 (94% liked)
4. Captain America: Civil War: 7.6 (90% liked)
5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier: 7.5/10 (89% liked)
6. Doctor Strange: 7.3/10 (90% liked)
7. Iron Man 3: 7.0/10 (79% liked)
8. Captain America: The First Avenger: 6.9/10 (80% liked)
9. Ant-Man: 6.8/10 (80% liked)
10. Thor: 6.7/10 (77% liked)
11. Avengers: Age of Ultron: 6.7/10 (75% liked)
12. Iron Man 2: 6.5/10 (72% liked)
13. Thor: The Dark World: 6.2/10 (67% liked)
14. The Incredible Hulk: 6.2/10 (67% liked)
Therefore, as you can see from a Tomatometer score, Doctor Strange appears to be right there in the top tier of MCU movies. However, if one looks deeper at the actual score of the movie, this movie looks a lot more like an upper mid-tier movie. Keep in mind that score will still change as less than half the reviews are in so far. Also, after reading many reviews already, most people say it is more of a mid-tier Marvel movie than an upper tier one. Anyway, take that for what it is worth and make your own judgment when you see it.

FYI... after 189 reviews now, Doctor Strange is still hanging strong with a 90% tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes, and even more importantly, a 7.3 overall rating. While the tomatometer has dropped a couple points, the overall ranking has not changed. With that said, while there are still probably another 100 reviews left to come in, I'd say it is pretty safe to say this movie will still hang up there to be at least a second tier MCU movie based on their rankings.

I loved Big Hero 6. It nearly supplanted The Incredibles as my favorite Disney animated film. (I could have a long conversation about "Disney/Pixar" but long story short, I feel that when Disney acquired Pixar, they shifted their best movies to be under the Disney label, and Pixar hasn't impressed me since with any of their movies.)

I wish they were doing a feature film follow-up instead of a Disney XD series however. I feel they are doing Big Hero 6 a huge disservice by relegating it to the small screen. I am definitely conflicted about this news.

Yeah, when people are ranking Marvel movies and whatnot, I think a lot of people completely forget about including Big Hero 6, which is a shame. If Big Hero 6 was an MCU movie, it would easily be a top tier one, right up there with the best of them. As for making another movie verses a TV series, I hear yah and tend to agree. Lets see how this turns out though before we pass judgment. I think it will all come down to whether they want to make something deeper and good like they did with Star Wars rebels, or whether they'll go cheesy, shallow, and episodic like they've done with things like Avengers Assemble in order to appeal to the really young kids. I could see it going either way. The fact that they brought back most of the original voice actors makes me a lot more optimistic that they won't waste their talent and will go more the Star Wars Rebels route.

I definitely have my fingers crossed for similarity to SWR. I don't DVR many series (I really don't watch much TV) but SWR is one of the shows that I do.

FYI... I wouldn't be too sad to see a rebooted live-action Big Hero 6 make its way into the MCU down the road. Could add some good diversity at some point in time.

Doctor Strange snap judgement. I loved it. I would put it in the upper quarter of MCU movies. But I really know the character. I could see people not familiar with him not enjoying it as much. I've got a couple of gripes about the movie but they are nitpicky.

Please no spoilers, but I do remember hearing from one review that there was a couple post-credit sequences (not surprising) and that they were pretty great. Can anyone confirm that they were pretty cool at least?

I'll see the movie tomorrow, but I have heard that the post-credit scenes (both) are awesome.
Apparently, MCU connections and a powerful setup for future films.

There are 2 and they tie directly into 2 other movies. I would say they are pretty good.

Mr. Benedict is weird with an American accent. Or an attempt for one, at least.

Rachel McAdams makes everything adorable -- even scrubs somehow.

Taking my 6 and 4 yr olds tomorrow. It's cool for them to see, right? 6 yr old really wants to see it. Any parts to shield the eyes?

There's a lot of stabbing going on during fight scenes.
The shaving should be OK for them.
Dr. Strange has some pretty brutal moments at the climax of the film.

Most of it should be OK. You'll want to be aware when the fights begin.

Thanks. We may be ****** parents but they've seen every marvel movie so far. Jurassic World was touch and go but they didn't blink an eye. 6 yr old really wants to see Deadpool but I'm not that ****** of a parent.

Usually I get dragged into IMAX 3D movies because I have a few friends that love it. I think this is the first movie I've seen where seeing it in IMAX 3D was more than worth the cost of the upgrade. If you haven't seen this movie yet, or even saw it in 2D, I would STRONGLY recommend seeing it in 3D. Only time I've really seen 3D used in a way that actually added to my enjoyment of a movie.

I'm not a super big 3D movie guy, even though I like it for certain movies, but I am planning on seeing this one in it.

My step-kids went to IMAX 3D and loved the movie.

Oldest one kind of fell asleep during it because the seats are like recliners.

Best thing about this movie is the brilliant way in which Dr. Strange beats the bad guy. It's a trip...and one worth taking imo.

8 out of 10

Finally saw Doctor Strange in 3D yesterday and my quick reaction was that I liked it, but didn't love it. What I liked most about it was the creation of a bunch of new fun characters, including Doctor Strange, it was a truly ground-breaking fun film from a trippy visual effects standpoint, and I found the ending to be fairly innovative and different. On the downside, it was a fairly formulaic typical Marvel origin story, I found the ever-changing ground rules of the magic being hard to follow and very on and off as a plot device, there was a fair amount of plot holes, and lastly, I found the magic to be a little too extreme and out there for what I was personally looking for in the MCU. I'll be the first to admit that last point was a fairly big one for me and held back my excitement throughout the movie. While it was good and probably exactly what some people were looking for from a tripping out-there standpoint, maybe that stuff just isn't quite my cup of tea, and that is okay. Deadpool was kind of the same way. It also wasn't really up my alley, but at the same time, I can respect and still enjoy the new innovative filmmaking style. So, in the end, based on its Rotten Tomato rankings alone, I'd call this film to be a little overrated, but still a good film. In my mind, it is very squarely a middle-of-the-pack tier 2 MCU movie and NOT even close to jumping into the top tier.

Lastly, on another note, while I'm NOT a big 3D movie guy, I did end up seeing this movie in 3D and truthfully, I wouldn't recommend seeing it any other way. This movie alone could be the reason why 3D should still stay around as the visual 3D aspect of this is what made the movie so ground-breaking. In my mind, I can't even visualize what it would look like in 2D. I really can't. It almost can't even be possible to be the same movie. So word of advice, fork over that extra cash and go 3D. You'll thank me later.

Once everything settles in, I'll post my usual full review as well as updated rankings at a later time. Feel free to react to my initial thoughts above.

Interesting opinion piece on what the CW's DC TV Universe could learn from Marvel TV. Overall, there is stuff I can agree with the author on, while there are other things I definitely DON'T agree on.

Overall, I love what BOTH Marvel and DC's TV universe are doing and I actually really like the differences in direction each one is taking. Its almost refreshing. At the same time, both have their pluses and negatives, but I don't know I can definitely say one is better than the other right now either. In fact, I've ranked out every comic book movie season before in this thread, and just going down all my rankings, I'd say they equal out pretty even on average.
