New Russo Bros interview where they talk more about who will/won't be included in Infinity War. Hard part is that they still don't give up much, other than they want it to be a surprise:

http://screenrant.com/avengers-infinity-war-directors-captain-marvel-characters/

Count me still in the group that REALLY wants them to use this opportunity to finally bring in some other MCU characters, particularly The Defenders characters (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage) to just put one big solidifying stamp on the "its all connected" concept. Wouldn't mind seeing even Deathlocke or Quake jump in from Agents of Shield either. None of these characters would need big parts, but even just a glorified cameo would completely suffice. Shoot, just have them almost join in from nowhere in the final battle in some fun way.

As for Captain Marvel, I think there is just too much hinting at it for her not to make an appearance, although I guess it isn't fully guaranteed yet. The hard part about her is that they've already admitted that they are changing her backstory/origin some, which makes it that much harder to know how she would even fit in if they wanted to. Personally, I still hope they keep her pre-powers fighter jet pilot backstory and just introduce her in that way into the 1st Infinity War Movie. Then, that would set her up perfectly to actually obtain her powers in her own movie thereafter, which would probably do her more justice anyway.

Finally get to see Civil War tonight. I can't wait:

I am always happy when this thread gets bumped because it is one of the few threads that remains free from tons of BS

Its also a good place to hide out, particularly for times like right now, when ISU football is one of the last things I want to think about.

Now, if you actually love that torture of depression, you are also welcome to go check out my DC Extended Universe thread. You'd probably love it there too ;-). Haha, just kidding, but man, they still do need to produce a good movie sometime soon over there.... whoof. Still a fun thread though. I'm no DC hater, just a realist. Overall, love BOTH DC and Marvel and want both to produce killer universes.

I'm in this group as well. I would just love it if Matt Murdock was Tony Stark's attorney or something. I don't see why they couldn't do cameos.

I also love how people can actually post their opinions on here and responses to those opinions tend to stay super constructive and respectful. Good work everyone. The dousche factor for all three of the comic book threads tend to stay super low, which is pretty impressive. I truly enjoy reading what everyone has had to say.

Oh yeah, couple other things:

1. Many early reviews for the upcoming Luke Cage Netflix series have already been released and they've all been pretty ridiculously positive. In fact, many of them consider Luke Cage to be the best series yet. With that said, I can't wait for it to be released now.

2. Planning on picking up a blu-ray copy of Civil War on my way home tonight!!!! Boom-shackalacka. Now, I'm just hoping I can swindle my wife into watching it with me. In general, she hates these types of movies, but just recently, I finally started her off with her first MCU movie with Iron Man (nice and grounded), which I actually think she sneakily enjoyed. After that, I actually through Ant-Man at her, since it was another nice easily contained movie. While she probably thought some of it was ridiculous, you could tell she somewhat sneakily enjoyed it as well. Next up, gonna try Civil War. We'll see though. That is a pretty big next step.

It just came out I assume?
Have to check the mailbox when I get home.

I loved Civil War. It has to be in my top 3 MCU movies (behind Iron Man and GotG).

I couldn't stop smiling when Spider-Man or Peter Parker was on-screen. They absolutely nailed every aspect of that character. I now have higher expectations for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

I also liked Black Panther and think this will be a nice segue into his film. It's going to be interesting, as he pretty much had an "I am Iron Man" moment when he took his helmet off in the middle of a busy street. Now people across the globe are going to know that T'Challa, one of the richest and most powerful people on the planet, is also the Black Panther. He has the cachet of Tony Stark, but the added benefit "diplomatic immunity" (insert Lethal Weapon 2 gif here)

The last third of the movie turned into more of an "Iron Man 4." Tony Stark was kind of the "villain" for most of the movie and then the reveal in the bunker really shifted that narrative back over to Tony being the good guy and Cap being public enemy #1. I really liked that twist and also how that impacts the 2 other Avenger's movies.

I'm glad the Russo's are directing the next 2 Avenger's films. They were able to give all the characters a fair and balanced amount of screen-time and that's going to be even more important when they add Hulk, Thor, the Guardians, Dr Strange and Captain Marvel to the cast.

The writing of this film was remarkable: it somehow was able to close the 3-film arch on Captain America, while also being Avengers 2.5 and Iron Man 4, it reintroduced Spider-Man, and introduced Black Panther. If I'm a DC executive I'm playing that film on a loop in the DCEU writer's room and saying: "this is what we need in every one of our films from here on out."

I can't believe this was the first installment of Phase 3. The bar has been set ridiculously high. Next up: Doctor Strange.

Great little review, albeit a little late, but still appreciated.

Like you said, loved how it both wrapped up previous arcs as well as did an amazing job of setting up Infinity Wars. I love the idea how all the Avengers are soon to be approaching their biggest threat to date, yet are a completely broken mess right now. Should make for one of those epic coming together reconciliation tales. Now, just make sure you toss in a few Defenders and maybe a couple Agents of Shield characters into the Infinity War mix and we are good to go!!!

I haven't seen an MCU movie in the theaters since Captain America: First Avenger, so my reviews are definitely going to be delayed. You can look forward to my Suicide Squad review in the DCEU thread sometime in December :D

Result: Epic fail. Not only was she mad I bought another movie (she thinks its stupid I collect all these superhero movies), but she had no interest in watching another one, at least right now. Oh well, was worth a try I guess. Maybe some day.
At least you got the movie :)

My wife hadn't seen any of the Marvel movies when we met a few years ago. Hell she hadn't even seen any of the Star Wars movies.

I've done my best to aid her education and she's been pretty open minded and willing to watch with me.

We've seen only a few in the theater though. Mostly we see them on borrowed blu-ray. My brother has the need to collect every movie he's ever liked, and we get to borrow them, so win-win.

The wifey now gets a lot of references she never understood before. So she's kind of like Cap, catching up as she goes along.

I guess I'm one of the lucky few who married a woman that enjoys the action/comic book/sci-fi movies. She would actually get upset with me if I watched one without her.

Yeah, sounds like I've had a bit rougher go at it. I will say that on the Star Wars front, I at least got her to watch The Force Awakens and seemed to somewhat enjoy it. At least it was more fun than she expected. On the theater front, I've only successfully got her to go to ONE of these movies in the post-Dark Knight era and for some stupid stupid reason I chose Batman v Superman = EPIC fail.

After seeing that about the movie being out, I watched DirecTV 3D pay channel on Wednesday night.

Thursday I went and bought (apparently forgot to put this on my Amazon list) the BluRay and watched the 3D version.

BluRay was better across the board plus you get the behind the scenes stuff on the other disc.

Owning these has sure enhanced my perceptions of quite a few movies, most notably Age of Ultron and Jurassic World.
