You aren't the only one. There are something like 25 comic book movies set to be released in the next 5 or 6 years. I left thinking Civil War was great but by the next day was pretty ho hum about it. They're too formulaic and too many in general. Will be interesting to see if the masses start thinking the same. Won't be for a while but oversaturation will come.

I definitely recognize that with being a nerd, I'm going to be one of the last people out there to ever suffer from superhero fatigue. However, I fully recognize that I'm not everyone and that there are definitely others out there that are, so we will see. I always go back to that I think superhero fatigue will relate directly to the quality of movies that are being released. If the movie studios keep cranking out good ones, I think this thing goes on for quite a few more years. However, if they start cranking out quite a few stinkers, particularly in a row, that is when you might see some early onset. When I look at this year so far, I'd say we started with one solid unique one that people liked (Deadpool), one stinker (Batman v Superman), one very good one (Civil War), and based on early reviews so far, a so-so one coming soon (X-Men: Apocalypse). It will be interesting to see the net reaction overall as we look to be somewhat in a 1 for 1 pattern so far. Looking even further forward, we've got Suicide Squad and Dr. Strange coming down the pipe still. If I had to bet, my guess is that both will do pretty well, but no guarantees. Luckily, whether good or not, both are fairly unique in their own regards and not too much like anything we've really seen so far from either studio.

It'll be widespread soon. I'm really picky about what I bother to watch.
The ones I've seen, I normally really like. I don't have the urge to catch everything, though. That's just too much.

This is an ambitious thing Marvel's pulling off. I think the bubble really does end with the Infinity Wars, and there's nothing wrong with that. Things don't last forever.

I figured as much. The last two seemed a bit more grounded. This one looks way too cartoony.

The feelings I see from the hardcore fans is that they can't accept mystique being the "hero" and the reason she is because they are pushing Jennifer Lawrence for face time since she's the "big star".
 
I really enjoyed Civil War, but the only other upcoming Marvel movies I'm excited about are the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and then the two Infinity Wars movies. I don't have much interest in Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Thor anything, or Spiderman (since they've done two separate movie series about Spiderman already).
 
Fatigue is bound to happen.

As long as they are good and a few a year, they're going to break the bank.

Agree with this. Dr strange looks interesting though

I can totally see your take on not wanting to see another Spider-Man anytime soon. In fact, I was probably in that boat a week ago. However, I'm not sure how anyone can walk out of Civil War and not want to see a Tom Holland Spider-Man, especially when it has been almost confirmed that RDJ will also be in it. Spider-Man was the best part of Civil War.

They screwed up by remaking them so quickly, the Andrew Garfield ones should never have happened.
 
Post-Civil War, I've been meaning to post my updated MCU rankings with it included. However, after quickly realizing that my full sentiment on the movie was still drastically in flux, I figured I'd give it a week to settle and I'm glad I did. Walking out of the theater, I was was definitely on a high, and if you would have asked me then, I would have said that the ending didn't quite deliver everything I wanted, but still probably would have said best MCU movie yet. I mean, the movie was a blast. With that said, after I let things settle a bit, I found my sentiment of the movie had fallen some to the point where it definitely still falls within the top tier movies (Winter Soldier, Avengers, Iron Man, GOTG), but had already seemingly fallen off its top perch. All said and done, while the movie was maybe the most fun movie yet, balanced so many characters like no movie has done before, and had some of the best character moments in the MCU, its overall plot and story line, while good, wasn't as great as a few of the others, and left a little to be desired. In particular, the buildup in the story was great, but I couldn't help but feel a bit underwhelmed at the delivery and ending to some extent. In the end, you'll see it has finally come in at #3 on my rankings overall, squarely in the top tier, but below Winter Soldier and The Avengers. Man it was a fun movie though and Spider-Man.... Oh, I can't talk enough about Spider-Man :-).



  1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Thought this movie had the best drama and best writing and story line of all the movies. Its action sequences were probably only second to Civil War as well.
  2. Marvel’s The Avengers – Iconic way to pull everything together with the best villain in the MCU. The final battle was so epic and unlike anything we had ever seen up until that point.
  3. Captain America: Civil War - Most fun and one of the funniest movies on the list. Also produced the best action sequences, had some of the best character moments, and showcased the best balancing act of so many characters. Biggest downfall was having a very good, but not great story line, which kept it from topping my list.
  4. Iron Man – Epic way to start the Universe with an unbelievable star for a headliner. Never got into the Iron Monger villain though.
  5. Guardians of the Galaxy – Best space epic since the original Star Wars movies. Also was probably the funniest movie of the MCU so far
  6. Marvel's Daredevil: Season 2 - The introduction of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in Season 2 was what truly made this season great and better than Season 2. Had a few pacing issues, but overall, the series only improved all the characters within it from Season 1, but I'm still so-so on Electra. Still needs a few more crossovers, but had a few.
  7. Marvel’s Daredevil: Season 1 – Loved the street-level more-adult-themed tone of this show. Also contains probably the second best villain in the MCU. Being on Netflix is a great way to un-cuff all the normal problems of making a TV show for network viewing.
  8. Ant-Man - Had super-low expectations, but walked away pleasantly surprised. Yet another weak villain, but contained some great comedy with some great actors. Paul Rudd won me over when I once was really skeptical of him.
  9. Captain America: The First Avenger – Epic first-half of the movie with Cap’s origin story, but believe it or not, I found Red Skull a little underdeveloped. Loved the WWII time period aspect of this one.
  10. Marvel's Jessica Jones - Series filled with great actors, great drama, good diversity to what we are used to, and one of the best villains in the MCU (Kilgrave). Series suffered most from having probably 3-4 too many episodes, poor pacing, and not enough ties to the overall MCU.
  11. Iron Man 2 – Many will mock me, but I actually really enjoyed this movie and actually enjoyed it more than Iron Man 3. Make fun of me all you want, but I didn’t think Whiplash was that bad. I think this movie gets unfairly criticized.
  12. Avengers: Age of Ultron – Fun movie, but suffered from too much CGI action, too many characters, and too many storylines.
  13. Thor: The Dark World – Criticize me if you will, but I actually liked this movie and thought it got an unfair bad wrap. I didn’t find Malekith that bad and I actually liked this movie more than the original Thor.
  14. Iron Man 3 – Don’t know what it is, but I just never really got into this one, and it probably had something to do with the big Mandarin villain twist towards the end. Also never really liked Killian either. Again, I surprisingly like Iron Man 2 better
  15. Marvel’s Agents of Shield: Season 2 – Liked the less cheese and more serious tone than the first season. Also, loved the Inhuman’s storyline. Used to hate Skye, but now don’t mind her.
  16. Marvel’s Agent Carter – Loved the period timepiece aspect of this. Great show.
  17. Thor – Don’t know what it is, but I just never got into this storyline or villains as much as the others. Again, I surprisingly liked Thor: Dark World more.
  18. The Incredible Hulk – Good movie, but not great. Never was into Norton for the role or the look they gave theHulk, so I was super glad when the switch was made and they remade the Hulk's appearance.
  19. Marvel’s Agents of Shield: Season 1 – Struggled hardcore in the first half-dozen episodes, but then finally picked up when Winter Soldier story line set in and the cheese started to fade. Overall, ended up really enjoying this.
  20. Marvel's Agent Carter: Season 2 - Great actors and characters combined with a poor, stand-alone story which lacked substance and true stakes to the MCU

Just a random thought for people on the MCU that many of you may not realize, but each movie has a small prequel of canon comics out there that not only add a bit to the movie/TV story lines, but actually in some instances, fill in some of the gaps and answer some of the questions you might have within a few of the movies. For instance, a few of the things they've covered are what exactly Bucky means in Civil War when he says he remembers all of the things he has done to Tony in the final battle, why the Avengers are chasing Crossbones at the start of Civil War, learn more on Hank Pyms background and adventures as Ant-Man in the past, learn the details on Scott Lang's heist which got him arrested, how and why Shield is developing all this alien tech into human weapons found on the helicarrier in The Avengers (using the dead destroyer from Thor), more of Black Widows background, particularly with Hawkeye, more on Gamora's and Nebula's back-story together, more on how and why Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch developed their powers from Loki's septor, and where War Machine/Iron Patriot was during the battle of New York. Again, these are only a few of the things. Anyway, any nerds out there interested in more, I'd encourage you to read a few of them. There aren't a ton, they aren't super long, and they are all available for free on youtube if you look for them. Here is a list of all the comics:

Only the official tie-in ones are canon ones that I'd recommend reading.
 
Just saw Fantastic Four on HBO, it wasn't good but I don't understand why so many people said it was the worst movie ever. I have seen so much worse. Had some good moments and clearly a large chunk of content at the end seemed to be cut.

The second one has been in heavy rotation.

It has a lot of good stuff but overall it's just missing something. (as was the first one).

For being one of the iconic Marvel super-villains Dr. Doom in these movies is pretty much a dud and the overall casting is suspect.

I watched about 20 minutes of the reboot and don't let anyone tell you things can't be worse. Yeesh

"They" have not done any Spider-Man movies. The past ones had no input by Marvel Studios and was outside of the MCU. Big difference with Spider-Man being inside the MCU.
