For kicks and giggles, here is my ranking of which MCU Phase 3 movies I'm most looking forward to:

1. Avengers: Infinity War Part 1
2. Captain America: Civil War
3. Avengers: Infinity War Part 2
4. Spider-Man Solo Film
5. Captain Marvel
6. Dr. Strange
7. Inhumans
8. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
9. Ant-Man and the Wasp
10. Black Panther
11. Thor: Ragnarok

It is worth noting that I'm greatly looking forward to all of them, just some slightly more than others. What are your thoughts?

Marvel had a press screening of Captain America: Civil War this past weekend. Initial reviews are pretty great:

Hearing that Spider-Man and Black Panther both knock their roles out of the park. Apparently, Spider-Man/Peter Parker are in the movie for nearly 30 minutes.

The fact that they lifted the critic ban so early shows the confidence Marvel has in this movie being good, which is the opposite of what WB did with Batman v Superman, where it didn't get lifted until the week of. With that said, there have just been too many positive comments coming from all directions throughout the past year with pretty much minimal to zero negative comments for this movie to not be good. Therefore, call me crazy, but my guess is this movie is already in my top 3 MCU movies and even a potential contender for the #1 slot, currently held by the Winter Soldier.

Apparently first clip of Captain America Civil War dropped during the MTV Movie Awards:

I'm refusing to watch it beings how I'd just rather save stuff like that for when I see the movie, so I've got no opinion on it.

I watched it and I really wish I hadn't. If I had to guess, this sequence takes place fairly early on in the movie. It's one of those things where I am still going to be excited when I see it, but I would have been blown away had I not spoiled it already.

Thanks for your honesty. This is EXACTLY why I didn't watch it. Shoot, even with trailers anymore, I almost need to just cut myself off after about 2 of them to avoid spoiling the movie for myself, much less full-out scenes.

After some reflection Daredevil may be my favorite TV show of all time. I didn't think Season 2 could live up to Season 1 but it definitely did.

I watched it. Very cool action scene, but just the (new) Avengers taking out a bunch of hapless para-military types. None of the Super Hero v. Super Hero action we're all looking forward to seeing in Cap 3.

Well, I finally finished Daredevil Season 2, so here is my full-out review. Overall, I loved Season 2 and I'll even go out on a limb and say that I liked it more than Season 1. However, there was a point about halfway into the season where I didn't necessarily feel that way, due to some pacing problems and me not really caring for the Electra character at that point. However, after a few more episodes as I neared the finale, everything seemed to get back on track and I even started to at least be good with the Electra character and what they did with her. I still think casting could have been slightly better in the fact that it is still a bit hard to see this practically 100 pound female beating the crap out of all these ninjas. I'm not saying she has to be Ronda Rousey, but some type of muscle structure would have been nice like that of a Rebecca Ferguson in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. Even just take that actress and bulk her up some. Back to the pacing thing, like Daredevil Season 1, I think a lot of the problem was that they took what probably should have been a 10 episode storyline and stretched it to the needed 13 episodes. Shoot, even Jessica Jones had that same problem. One last gripe I had was that I thought it was almost too low-budget at a point, with practically zero special effects or some crazy fun stuff, and I’m usually the guy wanting movies to tame down the special effects and CGI, and make things more grounded. However, any problem I had with that was made up for with the last few episodes in some pretty cool ways that I won’t spoil.

Enough of the negative though as this show had a ton of positives. To start with, the Punisher was everything I expected, everything I wanted, and probably some more. Jon Bernthal was the perfect casting decision and is by far the best Punisher we've seen so far. Every episode he was in was some of the best episodes of the series and he has probably cracked my top 3 of favorite MCU heroes so far with only Captain America and Iron Man ahead of him. Some of his lines and monologues were spectacular. Secondly, Season 2 took the character of Foggy, who I didn’t really care for in the first series, and kind of redeemed him a bit. He still isn’t my favorite character, but I do remotely like him now. I might even say the same thing for Karen. Lastly, I liked Matt Murdock as Daredevil in Season 1, but didn’t necessarily love him. However, Season 2 finally fully sold me on him, and of all MCU characters that might appear in the Spider-Man solo film, I hope it is him or the Punisher. Those would fit well with the comics too. Lastly, I think I saw some criticism about the ending being too open-ended and cliffhangery, which I don’t necessarily agree with. I feel like I got the closure I needed with yeah, a little bit of the cliff hanger, but not bad.

Overall, great show that was very entertaining. This series only makes me like the Netflix format that much better than a network television one where there is so many more parameters they’ve got to work within. I also liked how this series thoroughly made me excited for what is to come, particularly with Daredevil, Punisher, and “slight spoiler alert” the Kingpin.

Your review pretty much nails it for me. I loved the Punisher. The dynamic between him and Daredevil was awesome. I am really liking the Marvel Netflix Universe. It is setting up really nicely. I like that the tone is more dark and gritty. All the heroes have been good so far and Kingpin and Kilgrave have been excellent villains.

So, after finishing Daredevil: Season 2 and posting my review, I figured it would only be fitting for me to update my MCU rankings with it included:

  1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Thought this movie had the best drama and best action scenes of all the movies
  2. Marvel’s The Avengers – Iconic way to pull everything together with the best villain in the MCU
  3. Iron Man – Epic way to start the Universe with an unbelievable star for a headliner. Never got into the Iron Monger villain though.
  4. Guardians of the Galaxy – Best space epic since the original Star Wars movies. Also was probably the funniest movie of the MCU so far.
  5. Marvel's Daredevil: Season 2 - The introduction of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in Season 2 was what truly made this season great and better than Season 2. Had a few pacing issues, but overall, the series only improved all the characters within it from Season 1. Still needs a few more crossovers, but had a few.
  6. Marvel’s Daredevil: Season 1 – Loved the street-level more-adult-themed tone of this show. Also contains probably the second best villain in the MCU. Being on Netflix is a great way to un-cuff all the normal problems of making a TV show for network viewing.
  7. Ant-Man - Had super-low expectations, but walked away pleasantly surprised. Yet another weak villain, but contained some great comedy with some great actors. Paul Rudd won me over when I once was really skeptical of him.
  8. Captain America: The First Avenger – Epic first-half of the movie with Cap’s origin story, but believe it or not, I found Red Skull a little underdeveloped. Loved the WWII time period aspect of this one.
  9. Marvel's Jessica Jones - Series filled with great actors, great drama, good diversity to what we are used to, and one of the best villains in the MCU (Kilgrave). Series suffered most from having probably 3-4 too many episodes, poor pacing, and not enough ties to the overall MCU.
  10. Iron Man 2 – Many will mock me, but I actually really enjoyed this movie and actually enjoyed it more than Iron Man 3. Make fun of me all you want, but I didn’t think Whiplash was that bad. I think this movie gets unfairly criticized.
  11. Avengers: Age of Ultron – Fun movie, but suffered from too much CGI action, too many characters, and too many storylines.
  12. Thor: The Dark World – Criticize me if you will, but I actually liked this movie and thought it got an unfair bad wrap. I didn’t find Malekith that bad and I actually liked this movie more than the original Thor.
  13. Iron Man 3 – Don’t know what it is, but I just never really got into this one, and it probably had something to do with the big Mandarin villain twist towards the end. Also never really liked Killian either. Again, I surprisingly like Iron Man 2 better
  14. Marvel’s Agents of Shield: Season 2 – Liked the less cheese and more serious tone than the first season. Also, loved the Inhuman’s storyline. Used to hate Skye, but now don’t mind her.
  15. Marvel’s Agent Carter – Loved the period timepiece aspect of this. Great show.
  16. Thor – Don’t know what it is, but I just never got into this storyline or villains as much as the others. Again, I surprisingly liked Thor: Dark World more.
  17. The Incredible Hulk – Good movie, but not great. Never was into Norton for the role, so was glad when the switch was made.
  18. Marvel’s Agents of Shield: Season 1 – Struggled hardcore in the first half-dozen episodes, but then finally picked up when Winter Soldier storyline set in and the cheese started to fade. Overall, ended up really enjoying this.
  19. Marvel's Agent Carter: Season 2 - Great actors and characters combined with a poor, stand-alone story which lacked substance and true stakes to the MCU
