Mark Mangino

Mangino is a proven o-coordinator and a guy that knows how to cheat on the recruiting trail. More importantly he has won at different programs. I have no problem with it.

Those supports need to be at least twice that size to even consider bringing in Mangino.

Hilarious, thats my photo!:wideeyed:

I honesty don't really care if we hire him, but I do hope we interview him and give him a serious thought. If they decide he won't make a good fit, then don't hire him.

This. But even if we don't interview him, I trust CPR's decision. He seems to know what this team needs. And realistically if we did hire him...and then do have success... he wouldn't be here for too long before he was offered a head coaching job again.

I could get behind a Mangino hire. He excelled at OU as the OC and then proved that he could do the same with lessor players at KU. Sure he had some good players at KU, and even a few NFL guys, but he had nowhere near the talent to work with at KU as he did at OU. The guy can coach and the guy can recruit.

Franklin... say what you will about the guy but I think his disaster at Auburn speaks volumes. (Prepare for the Tubs tied his hands behind his back at Auburn excuses)

Speaking of disasters, how did MM leave KU?

I think I would have a difficult time with a Mangino hire. I enjoy making fun of him way too much, and I would feel bad about doing it that much to an ISU coach.

Whats intriguing to me about a mark mangino hire would be a "No Excuses" mantra. The only excuse i can think of is, "He just doesn't fit well." Which could be said about absolutely anyone we hire (even if we hire within).

Mangino is a coach that everyone knows can get it done. If he can't get it done, then who can? Are there other coaches out there that can coach offense better than Mangino? Not many.

In other words, he'd be a guy we won't point the finger at. We won't point the finger at paul rhoads, or wally burnham, but we clearly blamed a lot of our lack of success on tom herman. What are we going to say if we hire mangino and we still have a poor offense? Nothing. The blame will shift to players on the team or position coaches (ie: too many turnovers, not a good QB, dropped passes, penalties, poor field position, etc.)

I'd still like to know what has happened to him- has he lost any weight, fallen off the face of the earth and achieved his own orbit somewhere or what?

Mangino might have a hard time getting a HC job anyway ... regardless of success. ISU could add contract incentives to his weight/fitness.

Heck, I saw an interview with Warren Buffet and he said that he tied incentives to his own son's charitable trust based on his son's weight.

Not really sure why anyone would want Franklin. Franklin got everyone fired at Auburn because his offense sucked bad. We need to find a new guy with the same offense as Herman and hire him. Then Hire another new guy in 3 years with the same offense as him. I am affraid of Rhoads going the Dan Mac route and hiring guys he knows and sticking with them regardless of the offense on the field. CHiz did that as well. Hire an up and coming guy like Kingsbury.

I'm not sure how long it would take, even with success, for Mangino to get another HC gig. His image was tarnished on the way out at KU. Part of it was deffinitely his issue and part of it was on the AD that wanted him out.

MM seemed to have issues handling the stress of being the head man. He had issues with the KU authority and I am sure other ADs that would look at him would take that into consideration. He also had anger issues dealing with the players that some thought was above and beyond the standard coach outburst.

I think we would probably be able to hold onto him longer than expected unless he is willing to take almost any head job.

I think his health would get him before another job would. Assuming he hasn't made any changes.

Mangino was spotted sporting Cardinal and Gold Cyclone colors. I think he's ALL IN! Picture to come
