Marcus Brister

I listened to this whole thing, and I really loved when JN asked him why his coach thought Marcus wanted to come to ISU, and his coach said something along the lines of, "the coaches came in and gave him tough love, told him what he needed to improve on, and he liked that. He didn't want to just be allowed to do whatever he wanted to do"

That really makes me feel like he wants to get better and wants to play in a disciplined style. I'm liking Brister more and more from what I've heard of him.

It is good to hear a coach excited about this guy, but it is just hard to listen to Jonathan Narcisse leading questions asking things like "What kind of leader is he?" Like this coach is going to say he is not that great or something. I think every question Narcisse asked this coach gave answers like Brister is the next Michael Jordan. He even said that Brister is Tinsley to a T. That might be a little bold, but man would I love to see that happen. I also love the thought of a solid 6'3" guard.

I also can't stand the way the interview was carried out. I understand it's more meant to be transcripted, but by the way Narcisse introduced the listeners to the clip, it seemed to be an unprofessional interview, complete with the sounds of him sipping a drink, typing on a computer, etc.

I liked the bit that Bryce mentioned though. Thank god we're finally getting some disciplined players to come play at ISU.

I feel bad saying it because I know he's a Cyclone and all, but Jonathan Narcisse doing interviews is brutal. I appreciate the free stuff on Cyclone Nation and am glad they got interviews with all the recruits' coaches but man they are all tough to listen to. I haven't been able to finish one yet.

I thought he was a Hawk, prior to his economical relationship with ISU?

Let's control ourselves here...he is Tinsley to a T?!? Come on, the kid only averaged 3 assists as a Jr. and 7 as a Sr. (and he really was not a prolific scorer).

It's great that he wants to improve because he apparently needs to do so. He was not recruited that strongly by any major schools. In fact, our primary competitors for the guy were Prairie View and Southern. I know some other schools are listed but I don't believe they were strong suitors for this guy.

Having said that, here's to hoping that he is the second coming of Tinsley...NEXT YEAR!!

Does anybody have the 3-point shooting stats and free throw stats for Brister. Curious to see what kind of a shooter he is.

When he was on Deace's Friday roundtable, I recall that he was pro Hawk. The dude has the most irritating voice on the radio, He was brutal to listen on the spring game round up. I would almost rather listen to Gary Dolphin, he is that annoying.

Didn't he recently get busted for illegal downloading music?

I can't say my opinion is one that goes against the grain here.

However, Jeremy has stated a number of times he'd like CF to stay away from bashing other sites and the people who run them.

Please try to stick to the topic which is Brister and what a great find he looks to be!:yes4lo:

Neither was Tinsley in high school. :wink0st:

But I agree that we have to control our excitement until he gets on campus and starts playing in GMAC's system.

You hear that G-Mac?

Don't be looking at high school stats any more when recruiting Big 12 caliber players. You're just going to have to go out and watch every single athlete play or see tape of all of them. You can't let a recruit catch your eye based on countless double-doubles, many blocked shots, great assist-to-turnover ratios, etc.

And fans, you can't use these same stats to predict and speculate what our recruits could do in a Cyclone uniform. Gotta just wait until they do it. No talky.

ISU Fan22 - do you have a job? It appears you are either living off the wife or you post at work, which is naughty.

Yes, I am on vacation today...That will avoid your first sarcastic response.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.

I believe this would be the second time in as many days that you've obsessed over me. An avid member of a free internet message board. Again, that you're obsessing over.

That is all...

I met ISU Fan 22 at the tailgate event. He's a cool guy, has a job, but certainly not the kind of guy to obsess over. I'd drink a beer with him anytime.
