Man Colds

I was battling one of the worst sinus infections, perhaps in the history of the world a few weeks back. Went to the doctor and they gave me a Zpack. I had heard a lot of people getting these in college to clear up "bacterial infections" but had never used one. I battled that sinus infection for a good 2 weeks and this zpack comes along and clears it up like nothing. A true marvel of modern medicine.

I'm still trying to get back to normal. Started with a sore throat a few days after Thanksgiving after I returned from Orlando. About 4 days later it moved to my sinus. My right ear became plugged. Then a few days later it moved to my eyes! They were extremely bloodshot and oozed an awful discharge. Couldn't open them in the middle of the night because they were matted shut. Now my throat is a little sore again and my right ear remains plugged after several days. This sucks.

If anyone knows of any tricks for getting your ear to pop, let me know.

A lot of Covid going around. I thought I had strep so I went in to get meds, nope so they tested for the rona just incase. Yep, I had it and they said it's flared back up. Mostly like a cold this time around. Sinus issues, cough, aches, and a headache.
I was at an in-person meeting last week, 40 some odd people and at least five people in the meeting have COVID. A couple are pretty beat down by it.

Zpack is truly one of the worst antibiotics ever created. Glad it worked for you but it's never worked for me, nor for anyone I'm in contact with (friends or family).

For sinus infections Biaxin (Clarithromycin) and Amoxicillin tend to be the best for me.

On this note I had been sicker than **** for the previous week and a half. Started as a cold and then morphed into a sinus infection. Only now am I starting to get over it (after taking Amox). Easily the worst infection I've had in years, and that's coming from someone whose had 2 sinus surgeries.

Woke up with one this morning. Ts & Ps appreciated and encoraged.

God willing, I'll make it through.
Every time I see the bolded, I think toilet paper. Every time.

This sound exactly like the stuff the GF and I had.

It's been a strange year of illness. Got sick twice, the first being this summer following my gpas funeral. Literally didnt' feel "bad" the entire time, just had an INSANE amount of throat mucous (no sore throat, fever, body aches, or nasal congestion). At night this would run into my lungs and after 4-5 days I developed an insane cough (I almost never cough). I was sick for another week, then had the cough for 1 more as it took me that long to dispel all of the mucous in the lungs.

Now this round. Both illnesses were very strange with what they affected and the length. Neither were Covid but it makes me wonder if Covid has altered my immune response a bit.

Been hitting the Nyquil the last couple of nights. Just noticed it started with slight cough and then hacking up lung butter in the morning. This on the heels of being in Orlando last week.

Amoxicillin is in the penicillin group so those of us with that allergy have to get something else. I had an allergic reaction to penicillin. Four of five kids had an allergic reaction to augmentin or amoxicillin, both in the same group.

You are right about that. Sadly man kids/people grow out of those allergies. I had an allergic reaction to Penicillin as a baby, didn't use it for years, then tried it again about 10 years ago (early 30s). No reaction and no problems with the cillin groups since.

I would opt for Biaxin if that's not the case. An absolute miracle drug for sinus infection (though it leaves a really bad taste in your mouth).

I'm of the belief that Florida is one giant dirty petri dish.
