I'm starting to question whether or not Fred trusts Fred.
Indian Hills, in addition to being a powerhouse, is sort of a unique place. Of the top of my head, I believe Hogue only averaged like 17 mpg as a soph there, and McKay only 23 mpg.
Yeah, I saw that about him. I was just curious if they were brothers, and I did find an article that confirmed that.It is his brother. He was at a Florida juco last year. He had an "unfortunate" event with a couple of teammates.
From what I've heard, Dime is basically a poor man's Jameel McKay. Frankly I'd take that. Isn't meant to be a negative if Jameel turns out to be as good as advertised. Not a great fit for Fred's system but certainly a guy who can be used as a chess piece too.

Plus Dime is the #1 rated juco prospect at PF same as McKay was. From our perspective this is a more relevant assessment to transferable skills. Though, many recruiting experts have said that had Williams played this year he would have been the #1 prospect at that position and likely the #1 overall juco prospect and we a l ready have him signed. If we have Niang, McKay, Williams, Dime and Diallo we would have thee top returning front court player thee 3 top juco front court prospects and one of if not thee top HS prospect all in one year (Not to mention Nader and the Greek). Remember when folks said Hoiberg couldn't recruit big men? We are solid with or without him for the foreseeable future in the front court.Diallo is in another class as Dime IMO, but Dime not being a juco AA like McKay means little IMO. Hogue averaged better numbers in the postseason at ISU, and played a bigger role IMO than he did at IHCC.
I think what CloneinWDSM was trying to say is Hoiball is all about spreading the floor and bigs being able to play on the arc. It looks as though (according to his highlight tapes which include only dunks and blocks) Dime does not have an outside game which will mess with the spacing and mismatch opportunities.
Building on that, McKay didn't necessarily show he had the ability to play on the arc but he also had his transfer year to sit out and develop an outside game with Hoiberg's help.
There is someone else on our team that can dunk, block shots and play defense and doesn't have an outside game. He doesn't play too much. I would love to have Dime on our team but he doesn't fit the match-up nightmare mold that we need our bigs to be.

I view Dime as:
Worst case: Replacement for Edozie, as a guy who can come off the bench and defend the post if injuries or fouls pop up.
Best case: A poor man's McKay, running rim to rim, blocking shots and rebounding at a high rate.
While Fred certainly likes to have 5 guys who can shoot the 3, I think his offense will work just fine with 4 guys who can shoot and a post who doesn't. There are lots of ways (screen and roll for example) to create a mismatch in that case too, especially if they are athletic as McKay or Dime.
100% agreement here.
It blows my mind people are dumb enough think Dimes decision would effect Diallos. You realize schools like Kansas and Kentucky have recruits a lot better than Dime right?
Three of the 4 are from Seattle and the 4th is from California. A lot easier to get a kid from a large city on the West coast to Seattle than a kid from a Midwest city to Ames. There are a lot of good players with far less regional competition IMO.I think someone in this thread said that Washington was bringing something like 4 4-star recruits next year. Is this true?
If so, why? I think TJ is a great recruiter, but it isn't like he was getting 4 star recruits to come here much under McDermott or Hoiberg.
I'm obviously really, really biased, but I can't understand why a lot of players aren't just begging to come to Iowa State.
