Malik Dime---Indian Hills (reported UW commit)

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

So how does this work exactly?

If Dime commits to ISU next week, is Diallo out, or do we take both if we can?

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

Dime has no impact on us taking Diallo. If Diallo wants to come. We will get him a spot.

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

Fred is not not going to have room for Diallo. Even if Dime beats him to the punch.

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

Both if we can. If not take the first one that commits, IMO.

Sounds good to me.

Are Dime and Diallo pretty equal? I've heard Diallo is the better of the two, but I can't see us turning Dime down, only to also get turned down by Diallo, and then not get either of them.

Getting both would be better than getting neither, that's for sure.

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

Diallo is a top 10 recruit and top 5 in some. I'd say he's the best of the two. If we get Dime I've got no objections as to whom we sign as the other person for the class. A 3 or 4 would be ideal, but Diallo is obviously the optimal recruit because he's so good. We just need another 5 because I'm assuming people are going to go after Mckay because he's our only shot blocker. Having 2 would allow both of them to be more aggressive.

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

I notice on the 247 sports website, the most current prediction has Dime headed to Washington.

However, the poll results are still 80% ISU and 20% Washington.

Kinda scary to see Washington in the newest expert prediction though. Although I believe that guy was a writer for some Washington paper?

That crystal ball thing is basically worthless, but for what it's worth, the guy that just picked UW has 5/5 correct predictions; 4 of which were players going to UW. http://247sports.com/User/Lars Hans...stitution.PrimaryPlayerSport.Sport=Basketball

Hope he's wrong on this one.

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

There was rumor of an Chicago area recruit. I don't know where the rumor started.

acgclone said something about it in the Recruit thread but didn't have a link or tweet to state where the idea came from.

It really is all BS. Once the news starts to leak on where the recruit goes, everyone switches to the right pick, thus making their 100% correct pick look good. Very flawed though.

They don't get any points in their ranking system for it unless they are the first to pick a guy.

So the guy who picks the right team a month before gets the credit and when people switch after they hear the day before from their sources they don't get any credit at all.

It's accounted for.

So your saying he voted for UW because he would be the first person to vote that. That way if he goes there he gets all the points. If he hears something right before for ISU he'll just switch his vote.

Correct.

I didn't even read the original complaint about it. I'm just saying that the guy picking is trying to get the right choice as soon as possible and that the % at the time of the decision does not matter.

Re: Malik Dime---Indian Hills

So you can see here http://247sports.com/User/Lars Hans...stitution.PrimaryPlayerSport.Sport=Basketball

that the dude had 3 picks that essentially he got wrong until he got official word from a program source. For Crisp and Thybulle he had the pick correct earlier.

Hemsley: Lars to UW about 50 days before he committed to SDSU and only right before did he change his pick.

Murray: It looks like UW was a lock all along. Pretty much unanimous there, and Lars again only got that prediction after it was already done.

Chris: Same as Murray. Unanimous and Lars was late.

Crisp: Lars was first to predict anything about a week before the commitment. UW was the only school picked

Thybulle: He was 3rd to pick UW 2 months before his commitment, but again UW was the only school picked until some people incorrectly switched to Gonzaga late in the game.

So it really doesn't mean anything, this guy has never picked a top recruit like this going against a program like ours or multiple power conference programs.

I agree that the Crystal Ball has zero long term predictive power. But someone earlier discounted this guy's UW pick as the guy because the guy is a UW writer; my point was just that the only time this particular guy seems to make picks is when a player is about to pick UW.

These 'local' type guys are probably the only ones whose guesses mean anything (if they're any good and not just homers). I mean, I'd be pretty happy if Hines was on there and started picking ISU guys the week before their expected decision.

But who knows.
