I'd agree with that. The Hangover was really funny, but wouldn't make my top 5. I wasn't going to see MacGruber, but most times I agree with this board's movie reviews, so I may go see it.
I'd say my top 3 in no order are Stripes, Animal House and Blues Brothers. For the rest of my top 10, I'd probably have Old School, Superbad, Borat, Strange Brew, The Jerk, Caddyshack and Ghostbusters.
BTW, I went and saw the new Shrek movie today and caught myself laughing out loud. Definitely wouldn't be anywhere close to my top list, but there's plenty of adult humor there. I thought it was actually pretty good.
Just saw it. Definitely some funny parts. Nowhere on the same level as The Hangover. Not at all.
I didn't either. I didn't hate it by any means but I was underwhelmed. I got it for Xmas so didn't even pay a penny to see it. I bet it was more fun in a theater with crowd interaction.
As far as The Hangover, when I first watched it I was incredibly disappointed. I htink my expectations were too high because of the talk. The second time I watched it, I laughed my *** off. I think I got over the expectation part and just watched it and enjoyed it. I think there are a lot of subtle little things that go on the background of that movie that make me laugh the most. I would say it does crack my Top 5. Can't wait for the second. They could go so many different directions with it.
I really don't get how someone could say the hangover wasn't at all funny or was terrible. I know it was meant to be a comedy, and sometimes they lose plots, but I thought the plot was good and they developed it pretty well with unique "problems."

I actually have liked all the Shreks. They aren't favorites, but they are something I can stand when my little cousins want to watch something. I get a kick out of those children movies who through in little innuendos that go right over there head. It's really pretty smart.
I think not seeing the Hangover for a month or so after it was out and hearing how it was the funniest movie alive killed it for me. Maybe if I would have just watched it without thinking it was going to be funny I would have enjoyed it more than just a little.
Easily the worst, most juvenile movie I've seen in decades. Nothing in the movie was remotely funny. I felt embarrassed for the actors delivering those stupid lines. This stuff was funny in junior high.

I had a buddy who saw it this weekend, tell me almost the exact same thing. Was considering going to see it, but probably not now.
It will make me think twice before ever seeing a Will Forte movie again. I thought maybe it was just The Solomon Brothers and not the actor that made that movie bad. But after seeing Forte in two movies and intensely disliking both of them, I think it's the "actor."
I don't care for Will Forte either but I do like this story. A family friend of my wife's use to date him a few years ago. My wife's brother was deployed in Iraq and Will sent him all of the "best of" of SNL and extras for the Air Born Rangers. That was pretty cool of him.
I seriously, SERIOUSLY considered leaving. And I've only ever left one movie in my life (Pokemon that a 12-year-old daughter dragged me to despite the protests of my younger daughter, who was 10 at the time). But it was a dad/daughter day at the movies and I didn't want to spoil that.

you know, my wife and I saw "the Hangover" for the first time, this weekend. From all the talk, I was expecting my sides to be hurting from laughing so much. But it was just ok. I thought it was funny, and I laughed a lot, but it wasn't the comedy for the ages that I had been expecting. Personally, I don't even think it was the best film that Todd Phillips has done. Old School was quite a bit better, in my opinion.
I think this is why I was disappointed as well.
Apparently nobody over the age of 16 likes McGruber. $4 million the first week and it's officially a bomb.
