I am from Central Iowa, but spent T-Giving weekend in the Cedar Rapids area. One of the news stations did a one-on-one interview with Mac McCausland Friday night, I believe.

They asked him about Steve Alford (paraphrasing): "Great young coaching mind who has turned the corner with the Iowa Hawkeyes."

They asked him about Greg McDermott: "Great young coach, but he will have his struggles in that conference."

They asked him who will be the best of the Big 4 in Iowa: "It might be Drake."

Mac McCausland - you are a biased idiot, and know very little!

What do you expect? I am suprised when asked about Greg McDermott he didn't say, WHO?

As usual...another Hawkeye homer. "Turned the corner..." Yeah, right. He went the wrong direction, i think.

I'm not sure whats worse, how bias he is or that people actually had to watch an interview with Mac McCausland.

i hate to tell u but mac lives in waterloo n does uni games he knows g mac real good. aside from that, i hate him n morgan there as unbearable as our new tv announcers.

His son is the only player I know to hold a press conference saying he would walk on at Iowa. McCausland knows very little about bball and is a hawkeye homer. perfect fit for that school.

I don't know a lot about Drake, but UNI has looked pretty solid so far this year. I thing the Clones are going to struggle at times this year because of all the new player and lack of a post player, but to say GMac is going to struggle with the Big 12 more than SA is going to or has struggled in the Big 10 is unrealistic.

The Hawk have looked okay so far this year, but it is early in the year and thier MO is to falter as the season goes on, and then make an amazing recovery in the Big 10 tourney, then blow up in the post season. Consitancy is the key!

What's funny is that it's kind of true - donors get a cool little "premium member" sign by their name!! :yes4lo:

Yep. Sure looks like he turned the corner last year against Northwestern State in last years NCAA Tournament. Must have turned another corner last night against Arizona State.

I remember when he tried to differentiate himself by saying that Iowa was running their "quarter-court" offense instead of running a half-court offense. I cringed in pain..

Oh my god, that's classic!

Along this same line of thinking, Steve Alford said a few years ago in a pregame interview that he thought his team was a top 10 practice team in the country. What on earth does that mean? My friends and I still get a huge laugh out of that!

Maybe it's like having mental toughness as a punter?:eek4wd:

Mac McCausland is a total idiot. If he thinks SA has turned the corner he lacks more common sense than I thought. I live in the CR area and have had to listen to that moron to many times. He is only saying Drake b/c his kid played for him (I believe). It is not secret that McDermott will struggle for us this year due to the defections and lack of disciplined players in the system when he took over. But SA will struggle as much b/c he has just as many new players as we do, but he has had several years to try to build his team.

Bottom line, he may be the ONLY person to like SA. Most hawk fans I know (and I know plenty) hate Alford and have basically given up on hawkeye bb.

You are 100% correct. I drank a few beers with some Hawk fans over the weekend and they have NO expectations for the basketball team. I enjoyed reading the rantings and ravings on one of the Hawkeye websites after the ASU game. They never cease to amaze me...it was the officials fault...imagine that.
