I was curious about this myself. A buddy and I are thinking of making the trip down from Des Moines. Did some searching today and it's Tech's homecoming. Might be why hotel room prices seem to be high for Friday and Saturday. Anyone else making the trip to or thinking of going? What's the tailgating like? Whats the must see/ must do while there?
Buddy Holly Center and Texas Walk of Fame. Other than that, I'm only there for about an hour each trip.
Lubbock is terrible. went there once, ate a taco, got yelled at by a lot of backward west Texans, traveled to the county line to buy booze, got our ***** whipped on the fb field, saw Lubbock residents arrive in their personal vehicles to referee the game, saw a tumbleweed at the airport and left wishing I had that money and time back.

Would not recommend, a buddy of mine went and said they are the worst fans in Big 12(he has not been to WVU), the only time it was worst was in Vegas in 08, those fans threaten our lives. After winning even.....
In all seriousness the visitors section has been moved away from the students section. According to the TCU fans that made the trip it made for a much better experience. I hope anyone of you that make the journey have a pleasant trip. About hotel they are sky high for all game weekends and usually booked fast. Many people stay out of town and take a trip in for the game.
Sounds like my experiences in Lubbock as well. Used to live 99 miles from there, went to the ISU game when we beat them in 2011. The Tech fans threw tortillas, batteries, pennies and insults at our group throughout the game. I've heard the same things from fans from other schools as well. Very hard to find a friendly tailgate area the times I've been there.

I was out in Lubbock in August. Triple J Chophouse has incredible steaks and brews their own beer. Fantastic combo.
