I met a lady from the Kansas city area at the O'zarks the year we got his commitment. She knew Clayton and told me ISU was going to love this kid! Unfortunately he didn't get much of a chance in Ames! Great to see him succeed!

Caught a couple of Loyola games this year and Clayton was good, not great. He evidently shoots the 3 much better than in the games I saw. Thought his passing abilities were what you would expect out of a good point guard.
Look forward to following him in the tourney.

Hypothetical here,

Who would you rather have had, Custer for 4, or DJ for the 2?
I don’t think Custer wins the games that Jackson won for Iowa State last year. Also, this season would have been even worse IMO if we swapped a senior Custer for a senior Jackson. And I really like Custer’s game too, but he would have never really fit into an ISU roster (with a large role) the past few seasons.

I was pretty surprised to see him win MVC POY. 15pts, 2rebs, 4ast Not exactly eye popping numbers, but I guess that's just what the MVC is this year, and he was best player on best team.

He knew minutes would be tough with guys like Monte and Matty Ice being in front of him for 3 more years. Naz was a junior, BDJ transferred in. The road for playing time was thin.

DJ.
Sometimes the transfer works out really well and it did for Clayton. He's a better fit in MVC. Glad to see him do well in Chicago.
Similar so when Wes Eikmeier played transferred to CS. He grew into a decent player but he wasn’t a B12 player.

Doubt Custer contributes as a soph. I will also go ahead and take the guy that hit the dagger 3 in Phog Allen.

Two guys put up similar numbers. One in clearly the best league in the country. The other in a one bid league. I will take DJ all day every day.

I like Custer and am glad he did well, but I'm not sure he was the best player on Loyola.

One guy I was happy to see succeed elsewhere after transferring from ISU

Languishing on the ISU bench as a freshman on a talented team, made the right move for himself. Turned into the MVC player of the year.

I caught a couple Loyola games this season. The Ramblers are a fun team to watch......
I was at mvc. He would have been a solid this year. Really grown. Looks like a d1 player.
