Lower half of the Big 12 fading badly

Really surprised with how badly KState tanked, in last night's game and the season overall. Can't see them making the NCAA.

We may be seeing the beginning of the end for Weber. Several teams really improved their coaching this year. I'd hate to see K-snake do the same.

that makes sense haha. OSU is on a roll....

Okie State is downright scary, although they're not without faults...were down something like 14 last weekend to OU before pulling it out.

Likely gonna be a stressful senior night though.

IS OSU that scary though? They've won 9 of their last 10 sure, but those wins have come against Tech, TCU x 2 , Arkansas, OU x 2, Texas, KSU, and WVU. Of those 9 wins, the only ones that would be looked at on a tourney resume are Arkansas and WVU.

Im not discrediting them, and they scare the hell out of me next Tuesday, but their schedule was front and back loaded with a rather easy middle.

They are scary offensively, and a bit overall, but I'm not sold on their defense just yet. It looks better than it did early in the year, but as you noted, that was against worse competition. They put good pressure on Kansas State last night, but it was impossible to tell just what KSU was trying to do on offense. It looked like a series of passes and one on one moves

Evans is just a monster to defend. If you can somehow keep him in check with one guy, the rest of it falls apart for them. Easier said than done though.

These team lack depth. The long conference season takes a toll and it is showing...we've been in their shoes before.

This is a spot-on observation. D.J. has been hurt most of the conference season. We have a really good freshman guard, Cartier Diarra, who tore his ACL and is out for the year. A big broke his foot, Love, and another left the program.

K-State's just running out of juice here at the end. They have been horrible the second halves of the second half of conference play. I don't see that changing. Nor do I see them in "the dance." Which means yet another coaching change. :(

On a positive note, Bill Snyder was in the gym last night and got a rousing ovation from everyone including oSu fans. It was a special moment in a, generally, dismal evening.

I'm not.

I think K-State and TCU are fighting for the last spot. K-State at least have the easiest road left between them and TCU. Of course the game in Fort Worth becomes huge for bubble implications.

K-State also has trump cards on TCU with wins @OSU, Baylor, and West Virginia. TCU's best win was at home against us.

19-12(8-10) heading into KC with another chance to beat a tournament team is still in good shape compared to alot of bubble teams. I just think the conference will get 6 teams this year, RPI is too good to only send 5.

I honestly prefer only getting 6 in if it's because our top 5 teams are all holding or improving their seeds

That's preferable to me, too. It'
We may be seeing the beginning of the end for Weber.

It's becoming another typical Weber season. Exceeds preseason expectations, achieves respectable record, notches notable wins, appears secure for an NCAA Tournament bid, then fades down the stretch.

I was thinking about if the B12 get 7, 6 or perhaps 5 last night during the OSU/KSU game. In a normal year I think it would be 6, however at halftime of ISU/TT game Lunardi was arguing for Clemson with a 4-10 record in the ACC was in the Last 4 in for him due to resume - 4-10. then the promptly lost and are now 4-11.

Considering how the B12 and ACC are seen as the best two conferences by metrics and media I have a hard time not seeing at least 6 in as a given.
The 7th team controls its own destiny win 9 game in, win only 8 and get 1-2 games in the B12 tourney then in.
In reality having a 7 out of 10 teams at least in the discussion is a compliment to the conference.

Scary? No. But on a nice little run now. Coach has the kids believing they are in every game, even when down double digits and our best players are having have off nights (Forte and Evans combined to shoot 4-18 last night, for instance).

We have more Big 12 road wins this year than the previous three years combined! I can't get over the difference from this season's team compared to the last few.

I wish we weren't your senior night opponent again. I think we've been your senior night fodder for 4 of 5 years now. The last few years, we've needed every win we could get to make it to the tournament...and when we see the season ending at Ames, well, that win doesn't come often.

Not sure I'd say fodder. I don't remember any of those wins coming easy.

I was out in a fishing weekend in 2014, and stopped watching that last game to beat the sunset and figured they'd lost since they were down 5 or so with like 20 seconds left (and I think OSU was going to the line to 'ice' it).

I remember the fishing was actually pretty good but I was a bit bummed that they 'lost' on senior day, only to get back and see highlights of one of the more remarkable turn of events in recent ISU history.

TCU can get a big boost by beating WVU this weekend at home. Then KSU at home, followed by winnable road trip @OU.

KSU really crapped the bed last night with a must win game, and will likely play themselves out with two road games coming. I would still like to see them in so that Weber gets to stay.

Ehh, we were dragging you down to our level. The Ford Juju of Mediocrity™ was strong.

I agree the coaching was atrocious, but the talent was not. Scarier on paper, I suppose, and with that much talent, there's always a chance that they might overcome the bad coaching. At any rate, the end result was good for us, but it seemed like it's always been close. This year, I think it comes down to which team is playing better that day.
