Looking ahead to Oklahoma

Good win today! We definitely need to get better and we need Degen, Colbray and a couple other starters from last year in the lineup if we are going to contend for a top 5-8 finish.
I like what we’ve seen out of the freshmen but there needs to be huge strides from them if we’re going to get any points from them at the NCAA tournament. Just my take right now, hopefully I have a different take after the Big 12 tournament. Going to fun seeing it all play out.

apparently someone not living in a cloud ... like the posters on here. good luck to the hopeless romantics on this board. This team sucks, dresser and his staff suck... for one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the country, private planes and fancy cars taken to recruiting visits.... team sucks, dresser sucks and recruiting sucks and apparently you all suck for getting sucked into this crap. But keep putting more money into dressers pockets with his ******** cyclone wrestling club campaign that never gets better athletes or athletes at all, doesn't pay the athlete they have and never pays for better coaches.
Thank you for supporting Cyclone Fanatic with your visits and registration!

Also apologies to everyone for not being more active in today's thread. I forgot not everyone has FLO so I could've been in here dropping match updates! Spaced it on my end. Always fun to win but definitely some hiccups.

Have to say Broderson and Parker were the highlights of the day. Broderson spoke with us after the dual and he's a very good interview. For being such a young guy he really comes in and has great answers when explaining his process through it all. will try to clean up some of the video to share otherwise I can make graphics with pull quotes. We had the presser with the team just on the concourse so very loud!

Runyon of UNI just pinned Mantanona. Mantanona was up 5-3 & got cradled by Runyon
Teske handled their 125 easily and Biscoglia beat Madrigal as well. Makes me a little more disappointed in our dual results at those weights.

Runyon was an upset. I think it was his match a week ago in Ames, he throws cradles from anywhere, so he will always have that big weapon.

I agree that we need to be more dominate at 125 & 133. I think both our 125 & 133 pounders are every bit as good as UNI's

I wish we wouldn't have started the year with Wartburg, Loras & Kearney. I fully understand the circumstances, but I believe it provided fool's gold.

Grades at this point.
Terukina (B) Obviously, he has exceeded expectations and his upside is higher than Mackal's

Redding (B-) Another who has exceeded expecations. He lost his last 2 matches because he's a freshman. I'm confident this won't happen in years to come. Needs to improve his offense.

Parker (A-) Loss against Hart sucked, but we know Ian will work his a$$ off. Big win vs Demas.

Robinson (A-) Exceeded expectations. Almost defeated a highly ranked wrestler from Mizzou. I think his injury will keep him out a little longer than first thought. He will be an animal in years to come.

Carr (A) Our best wrestler and is stronger. Solid in all positions.

Judge (C-) Good win yesterday.

Brodersen (B-) Looked solid yesterday against a proven wrestler. If he wrestles smart, he will be a tough out.

Batani(C-) I assume Colbray will be here in the end. I don't even know what to expect from Tate. He does OK, but won't win many D1 matches w/ his style.

Bastida (D+) Too much hype and got his tail kicked yesterday by a guy who he had beaten in Freestyle. I'm not giving up on him....I think we all see the potential. Even though he didn't score, he looked a little better on the bottom yesterday. Side note...Woodley's posse chanted U-S-A after the match. Really??!!

Gremmel( B-) Redshirt Sr vs a Redshirt Fr for the dual. He won, but expected more from Gannon. The OU wrestler was gassed and probably at least 25 lbs lighter. If GG's going to continue his extra off the mat pushing, he better back it up w/ some butt kicking.

GO CYCLONES!

I could be wrong but I think you’re a little too hard on the Yonger there.

I was talking about the dual yesterday with another fan and we both came to the conclusion that for now whenever it’s the Cuban’s turn on the mat, you have absolutely no idea what is going to happen.

Congrats to the team, coaches and especially Kysen, Ian, Isaac & Julien for big wins. Especially Julien - That win was just what he needs to get him back on track! I hope Zach Redding can keep pushing and get himself a big win soon. He's been so close but needs to find a way to get takedowns so he can turn these results around and build some more confidence.

Like many of you I'm also hoping we can see Jarrett before the end of this year at full strength. The end of the season will be here before we know it.

Gannon pulled a pressure packed W and I give him credit for that too. He was pressing the action, which I liked. However when OU scored on his aggressiveness to make it close he wrestled smart and didn't risk the dual by keeping in control and winning the match. I hope he continues to press the action and improve. I think he'll beat that guy at Conference by a larger margin. That OU kid wrestled tough tho.

That was certainly an exciting duel to watch. Tightly contested to the end. Had we been at full strength, I don't see that duel being close at all.

All in all, our guys showed a lot of fight and kept working in each match to the very end. Once Redding and Terukina get some good, reliable, DI-level offense in their arsenals, they will be great. Their hand-fighting is great and they stay in position well. I do wonder if Mackall's veteran mat savvy would serve better in these duels, but if he can't beat Terukina in the room I'm good giving the Freshman the reps and investing in the future there.

Yonger certainly has plenty of room to grow with folkstyle and I'm sure he'll get there. Woodley has had Nick Heflin pushing him around in the room his entire collegiate career so I'm sure it will take Yonger some time to catch up, just hopefully not too much time. I think I saw Kyven is cleared for mat activity so I'm hoping he'll start helping whip Yonger into folkstyle form.

Kyven being in the room with the Cuban is exactly what he needs. That’s good news.
