Looking Ahead to Mizzou

This is going to be a hell of a dual with a lot of toss-ups. Don't love how we match up with Mizzou, but I have no doubt that our team will compete hard.

ISU Favored: 184
Mizzou Favored: 125, 141, 157, 174
Toss Ups: 133, 149, 165, 197, Hwt

We are going to need bonus points out of Marcus, and hope we don't give up any bonus at 125, 157, or 174. I am hopeful we can steal 141 with how Casey has turned the corner. Then we need to win 3 of the 5 toss-ups. Below is my order of confidence for winning the toss-up matches (most confident to least confident):

Likely have my cardinal and gold glasses on with that prediction at Sammy has never beat Elam, Mauller is a tough matchup for Paniro, and we could easily give up bonus at 174. But, I am confident in the team right now and think we can get this on criteria (especially if Marcus opens up on Hawkes).
 
Not sure I trust Perryman in the big spot. Crapped his pants in the UNI dual. If he does that here, 6 is a real possibility.

With Caleb I feel pretty confident in only giving up a decision. Plus who knows with his grind it out style if he can gas the guy and have a shot late.

Crazy how badly we match up here. It is entirely possible that we only win one match. That said, my picks:

125 - dec Mizzou 3-0
133 - ISU dec 3-3. Brown presents a much better style matchup for Redding than Byrd. I think Redding gets this.
141 - ISU dec 6-3. Casey’s back. His pace will be too much for Hart.
149 - dec Mizzou - 6-6. Paniro could win this match. I think this is the one ISU is most likely to pick up outside of the others I’ve already picked.
157 - dec Mizzou 9-6
165 - dec ISU 9-9. Agree that this is the most anticipated match up of the year. I really have no idea how it will go, but going with ISU. Scrambles will be interesting.
174 - dec Mizzou - 12-9
184 - dec ISU - 12-12.
197 - dec ISU - 15-12. This is a toss-up, but give me a losses off Yonger.
285 - dec Mizzou - 15-15. Would like to see Schuyler get the win, but having watched their previous matches and they haven’t been close. This will be a big one to see how big of a jump Schuyler has made this year.

Tiebreakers I lean Mizzou. Likely they’re going to have bigger gaps at 57/74 and the only one I see for ISU is 84, but the Mizzou guy is pretty solid.

125 - Surtin is tough and is a likely W for Mizzou, but he’s had kinks in the armor. He got majored 11-1 by Wyomings 125. Curious to see if Fuessley goes or if they go Perryman. 3-0 Mizzou.

133 - I thought Redding turned a corner at UNI, but he got ransacked by Byrd yesterday. He bounces back. 3-3

141 - I like where Casey is at right now. Hart has been vulnerable lately but is a tough out. Give me Casey 6-3 ISU.

149 - Mauller is stingy, but does not score points. This one is almost guaranteed to by a 1-2 point match, possibly heading to SV. Mauller is likely a little better in those matches. 6-6

157 - I know on paper Jacques is a heavy favorite, but Kraisser can win this match. He just can’t get down 6-2 or 8-3 early. 9-6 Mizzou

165 - match of the year in the NCAA’s. O’Toole is a stud, but our guy isn’t too bad either I’d say. 9-9

174 - Mocco is dangerous, I think we give up bonus here. 13-9 Mizzou.

184 - We get bonus back. Hawks is no slouch but Marcus is so tough right now. I hope he goes for 6. 13-13

197 - I almost feel better about Yonger coming off of a loss than if he hadn’t. Elam is also coming off of a loss. This is going to be fun and we need it. 16-13 ISU

285 - This one is going to be close. Sammy has wrestled Elam tough but Elam has his number. Thing is, I think Sammy has improved significantly more than Elam has (though he was better to begin with). Sammy the closer. 18-13 ISU.
