NW Iowa
A friend just gave me 2 tickets to the Baylor game. My wife and I will be driving down, but there are NO hotel rooms to be found!!! 4 hr drive is doable but brutal after the game. Any idea's? Are there any real small motels in ames I might be missing???

Go to the bars and find a lady. This will force you to step your game up. Or sleep in the car.

Fairfield Inn Ankeny shows rooms available for $119 .

Your problem is likely that there is a 2 night minimum. Try your search for Fri+Sat or Sat+Sun and more things should pop up. And then maybe call the places that do and see if they'll take just 1 night. Good luck!

From what direction are you coming?

If "coming down" means that you are coming from the north, then check out Story City or Mason City.

Given "NW Iowa" is your listed location, work your way backward towards home. I used to make the trek from up that way, and over the years have stayed in Boone, Carroll, Story City, Webster City, Fort Dodge, Humboldt, and Algona. Jefferson, Pocahontas and Storm Lake are probably viable options, too, depending how far northwest you have to go.

You get an hour or so on the road after the game (which isn't too bad), and then can be a little slower to roll out on Sunday morning since you're already that much closer to home.

I have heard that the Microtel, the Quality Inn, the Fairfield Inn and the Holiday Inn have rooms available for Saturday night. You probably will have to call them directly.

There is the Best Western Norseman Inn, 30 miles north of Ames on I-35 and the owners are ISU fans. 515-854-2281

This.

No, of course you can't get a hotel in Ames three days before a home game weekend. You just can't. Ever. So drive a short way back in the direction from whence you game and get a room. Pretty simple solution.

How can someone turn 1+1 into quantum physics? Holy ****!

:arghh:

Had some of that Surly Beer?

Get a place in Mason City. That way you are about an hour away from there and you can knock the rest out on Sunday.
